Hello! I had quite a nasty run-in with a virus/trojan/malware that MBAM seemed to thouroughly remove, with the exception of uacinit.dll. With each reboot and scan the file still remains. Please help!

I have browsed previous threads and in anticipation of your assistance I will post my MBAM and HijackThis logs in my next 2 sequential posts.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
Hey sorry for the long response, I appreciate your help. During the scan I got 2 SortUtility errors, I don't know if that affected anything. Since my last post my Google links are now being re-directed to spam sites, so it would seem my problem has only gotten worse. Here are the logs requested. Hi,

Let's attempt to do some cleaning :)

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
    Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New dds.txt log.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
When combofix started it displays a warning that I need to disable AVG Free. The problem is, I don't know how. I tried to disable Resident Shield in AVG but it still says active even when I select to disable it. I tried to uninstall but I get an error in the uninstallation process that says Local machine: installation failed Installation: Error: Action failed for registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows: creating registry key…. Error 0x80070005 I don't want to proceed in ComboFix unless you suggest so. UPDATE: I managed to fully disable the Resident Shield portion of AVG, if this is sufficient please let me know and I will proceed with ComboFix.
 Yes! I am already seeing serious improvement, thank you so much. My google links are no longer being re-directed either.

As Requested here is a new dds.txt and the combofix log.txt

Hi,

Uninstall Ask Toolbar if not installed on purpose. Have you installed SpyMan program that appears in the logs by yourself?

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

DDS::
BHO: {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - No File
BHO: {F0D4B231-DA4B-4daf-81E4-DFEE4931A4AA} - No File

Save this as
CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

[external image: Posted Image]

Close all browser windows and refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.
