Hello
My first post and desperate for help. I know I have some kind of spyware/adware that would open a webpage advertising something related to what I was looking at on IE - have Norton 360 installed, have tried spybot, spydoctor, adware pro, microsoft defender - nothing found. I ran the malwarebytes scan after reading about it here and it found a few things that it removed. At first it seemed to work but the adverts are still appearing but in a different form. They used to bring up a webpage that wasn't a www. if that makes sense. After the malwarebytes scan it now seems to open a proper www. page advert. I have managed to block them by changing IE pop-up settings but can see that it is still trying to open them as the url appears at the bottom of the browser. I am not at all technical I'm afraid and hope the explanation means something to you experts.

I have managed to do a hijackthis log below and will follow this with the malwarebytes log.

I was concerned about the ERUNT download as read something on the link about it destroying someone's computer - something about the registry cleaner it installs as well - can you reassure me it's safe to download?

Please let me know if there's any other information you need.

Thanks for your help.

Whether you wish to continue with cleaning or not, you should be aware that you may have been infected by a backdoor trojan. This type of program has the ability to steal passwords and other information from your system. If you are using your computer for sensitive purposes such as internet banking then I recommend you take the following steps immediately:
  • Use another, uninfected computer to change all your internet passwords, especially ones with financial implications such as banks, paypal, ebay, etc. You should also change the passwords for any other site you use.
  • Call your bank(s), credit card company or any other institution which may be affected and advise them that your login/password or credit card information may have been stolen and ask what steps to take with regard to your account.
  • Consider what other private information could possibly have been taken from your computer and take appropriate steps
This infection can almost certainly be cleaned, but as the malware could be configured to run any program a remote attacker requires, it will be impossible to be 100% sure that the machine is clean, if this is unacceptable to you then you should consider reformatting the system partition and reinstalling Windows as this is the only 100% sure answer.

Please post back to let me know how you wish to proceed.
Thanks for your response. I think we need to go for the safe option you suggest of reformatting the system partition and reinstalling windows. I understand about the reinstalling bit - have disk from dell but do not understand what the reformatting system partition means - can you help with this please? Much appreciated

Thanks you for your help - will give this a go just as soon as I feel brave enough.

You can also ask for help in that forum as the Tech Team is very good at helping with that.
