[Resolved] hijack this log could you take a look, thanks mcdave

I have been having problems with internet explorer taking up to multiple tries to open . I click it to open and an all black page opens and then it stops responding. I have to open task manager and end process ( sometimes up to 3 or more tries ) Windows also has a problem sometimes at shutdown with programs hanging and you need to chose end now . I would like to know if you see any virus or malware programs or if you think it is Windows problem I have tried google searches on the window problems and have tried some of there suggestions . Sorry about the delay in responding :(

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Hello
The problem with the computer right now is mostly with internet explorer . The first time I click to open explorer it opens with an all white page except for the top boarder .I then have to open task manager and close internet explorer by ending task I then try to open it again and usually will work. The other problem is more random and is at shut down the system will hang and put up a box that has you end task now .( I don't have any specific programs at this time because I haven't written those down and they don't come up all the time .)

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix, Vundofix, or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.


The issues with your computer that you list, doesn't appear to be related to Malware/Spyware/Virus but we can have a look.



Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

I suggest you do this: Uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel." Click "Add or Remove Programs." Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box. Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove."

Hi I uninstalled explorer 7 and it made a huge difference . Is there a known problem with explorer 7 ?? I also noticed a difference after I used atf cleaner . Thank you again. I think the problem is solved I guess I did't have any viruses or anything . Thanks, Dave
