how does it look to you now ?
I just went to the latest offending website and no popup yet, although since we started this whole thing I prefered not to speak too fast
hi LondonBabs

well that HJT log is clean.

I'm suspecting the numerous cracked files you have may be infected (they usually are) and suggest you delete them all from your system.

Lets clean up the numerous tools I have had you run and see how things go…

please do the following:

Follow these steps to uninstall Combofix
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
  • Note the space between the ..X and the /U, it needs to be there.

Next:

Download ToolsCleaner2 to your desktop and run it ( by de A.Rothstein & Dj Quiou )
  • Click the Pt. Restauration button and press OK to the prompts.
  • Click the Corbeille button and press OK to the prompt.
  • Click the Fichiers temp button and press OK to the prompt.
  • Click the Recherche button and let it run ( it may look like it freezes but let it continue )
  • Once it is done click the Suppression button and let it remove anything it finds.
  • Close the program

Once the tool cleaners have run you can delete any leftover logs or folders created on your desk top. Keep the Malware Bytes program though, It's good to have.

Run the MalwareBytes AntiMalware program one more time
Look for updates first, then run a quick scan and lets see if it comes up clean.
bloddy hell… it just came back !!! I didn't insert the pen since I disinfected it, I was in the middle of Malware's scan, finishing your last post instructions, surfing and it just came back, as if to nag me ! I wanted to get the cracks out, I don't even know what they're doing here, unless keygens count as cracks, but I was gonna ask some advices about how to proceed best in any case… it came back, the bugger… :smack: if it's any help, here's the log from Malware: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.36 Database version: 1954 Windows 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 08/04/2009 23:38:02 mbam-log-2009-04-08 (23-38-02).txt Scan type: Quick Scan Objects scanned: 72366 Time elapsed: 5 minute(s), 17 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected)
I suspect the key gen and cracks are infected…I would delete them all…..you just keep getting re-infected with whatever is embedded in those files… I'm unable to pinpoint which file it is as our tools aren't picking it up.

Try this different diagnostic tool…see if we can see anything with it.

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.pif to run the tool.
  • When done, two DDS.txt's will open.
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

well… but I haven't installed any such cracked program in a while, why would it come now ? the only one I can think of from the list you mentioned in an earlier post would be DVDShrink, well, I'm not sure… in any case, this is what I get when I click your previous link MZPÿÿ¸@º´ Í!¸LÍ!This program must be run under Win32 $7PELpÛÇHà À €PCP@p ìdPìUPX0€€àUPX1À¶@à.rsrc Pº@À3.03UPX! …………..etcetc
Try this one,

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two text files will open - log.txt (<info.txt (<
  • Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of log.txt andinfo.txt in your reply, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as RSIT produces one for you.

it's still there by the way just saying… Oh and sorry, I forgot to answer, this thing is coming totally randomly, once it comes it might stay at the same site, but the next time it'll be from a different one and going back to the one it was before there's no news of it anymore… but yea, once it appears it tends to come from the same site for each session, if that's any clear I don't know how to describe its behavior any better, it's just annoyingly ridiculous
OK

Lets give this one a try:

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer in Normal Mode will remove your Desktop background.
