Hi and :welcome:

Please do the following

  • Download OTListIt2 to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTListIt.Txt and Extras.Txt.
Note:These logs can be located in the OTListIt2. folder on you C:\ drive if they fail to open automatically.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply. You may need two posts to fit them both in.
Great, all I got is a window popping up before the program can finish, where it reads:

Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message 0xc00000013 Parameters 0x762A0 0x00000004 0x762C92A0 0x762C92A0

I tried the 3 options (cancel/try again/continue) to no avail, actually, if I insist the program just crashes, I downloaded the program twice and this happened both times…

Maybe you have another solution ?

here's another HJT log:

Hi

Can you advise if you are running any 'trial versions' of software as they often come bundled with this type of adware, which goes away when you purchase the fully version. As Malware Bytes should have removed it if it is not embedded with a program.

Please do this

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Click reset defaults
Click Apply, and then click OK.

That will rehide the folders - otlistIt2 shows them automatically so it can make it's deletions

bloody hell ! it's the 3rd time I'm trying to write this

Ok, anyway, I'm pretty positive I have no trial program running on this computer, did in the past, but they never last long

I already did put the folders back to normal, but thanks for the instructions, nonetheless, I did notice a couple of desktop.ini (hidden) icons I never saw before, if that's any indications, could be the programs I downloaded for this thread or something

STEP 1
This is the same scanner, it did the same results, error stating I need to run this with admin rights blabla even though I do allow the program, still no go with this scanner

Haven't seen the popup thing yet, let's see how it goes
Anything else you advise ?

P.S. I really appreciate all the getting out of your way to help, thanks a lot for you and people like you, keep it up !
Hi

Yes you have a number of tools on your desktop from me…I will clean them up when we are done…

my mistake, sorry , I meant to give you a different scanner…

Because you are using Vista, you have to run everything as Administrator - Are you right clicking your browser and running as administrator ? That could be the reason the scanner will not work.

please do this first:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
    • If you use Firefox browser
    • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Next

Go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.
  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As….
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button. Then post it here.

next

Run HJT and click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Click Open Uninstall Manager…
  • Click Save list… and save it to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the file uninstall_list.txt into your reply.

In your next reply please include

  • Kaspersky report
  • Uninstall list
Ok, I runned ATF, then Kaspersky, but during the scan, computer just blue screened/crashed, so I runned ATF again and this time tried Eset scanner (I got it working by opening explorer as an admin, which I didn't do before -vista's to blame, luckily kaspersky clued me in-) anyway, here's the result: # version=4 # OnlineScanner.ocx=1.0.0.635 # OnlineScannerDLLA.dll=1, 0, 0, 79 # OnlineScannerDLLW.dll=1, 0, 0, 78 # OnlineScannerUninstaller.exe=1, 0, 0, 49 # vers_standard_module=3988 (20090404) # vers_arch_module=1.064 (20080214) # vers_adv_heur_module=1.066 (20070917) # EOSSerial=634c2abb46fb154e99e1754a0f273fe1 # end=finished # remove_checked=false # unwanted_checked=true # utc_time=2009-04-05 10:51:19 # local_time=2009-04-05 11:51:19 (+0000, GMT Daylight Time) # country="United Kingdom" # osver=6.0.6001 NT Service Pack 1 # scanned=331635 # found=0 # scan_time=24733 the thing is, while scanning, my own antivirus (antivir) kept warning me for both [TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen] & [TR/Crypt.PEPM.Gen] which kept coming about 4 times each during the scan, if it's any relevant then you have this: 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) Adobe Acrobat and Reader 8.1.2 Security Update 1 (KB403742) Adobe Flash Player ActiveX Adobe Flash Player Plugin Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Advanced SystemCare 3 ALZip Any Video Converter 2.5.9 Avira AntiVir Personal - as for my computer's usual behavior, nothing much apart from slowing down, but nothing that can't be fixed wit a disk error check
I'm usually pretty careful with what goes in my computer, especially with bloody windows, I must have been slacking lately…
Let me know what you see
thank you again for the time you are taking to help me fix this

p.s. don't know if it means anything but no window appeared yet, then again, they took some time to come up again last time I cleaned through OTListIt2 [quickedit= I spoke too fast, the popup is still here, it didn't take 5 minutes, although it comes slower rarer…]
Hi,

This is being very stubborn,

Please do the following:

(NOTE: remember to right click and run as Administrator)

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

VERY IMPORTANT !!!
Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]
  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
4. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please advise.
5. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now
Yep, it's even more annoying that it's such a ridiculous thing, but I definitely want it out, so far so good, let me surf a while to be able to say properly

here's the log:

mmmmhok… been going around a bit, computer responds ok, well, nothing great, but no noticeable slowing down or popup, so far, it's only been a moment since I've done the scan, but fingers crossed, I'll see how it goes
anything next ?
Hi,

Please do the following:

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below.
  • They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Copy/paste the text inside the Codebox below into notepad:

Here's how to do that:
Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.
This will open an empty notepad file:

Copy all the text inside of the code box - Press Ctrl+C (or right click on the highlighted section and choose 'copy')

KillAll::
