[Resolved] TR/Crypt.xpack.gen stubborn infection (plus others)

Thank you for this site. I have been using McAfee Suite for the past year and am finding it to be worthless. Didn't find this Tr/Crypt, which I can't seem to get off. I also had virtumonde, and a vundu virus. I removed McAfee; put on Spybot, SuperAntiSpyware Windows Defender and Avira AntiVir Personal. The 1st two found the viruses and removed them, I thought. Avira came up with the TR/Crypt trojan today. I have since done the following. Erunt, ATF cleaner, Malwarebytes, and HijackThis according to your "before posting" forum. I don't know if there is anything left after Malwarebytes cleaned it so here is that log in quick scan. Also included is the 1st Malwarebyte scan and the Hijackthis log.

You're doing fine and appear to have done everything correctly so far. You do have some infections that can be stubborn. We just need a bigger hammer to finish this thing off.

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.   • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply. Please also post an updated HijackThis log and let me know how it's running.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Need to check out a file.

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org, click on Browse, and upload the following file for analysis:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\ceuwm.sys

Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned, and then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

Please double-click GooredFix.exe on your Desktop to run it.
  • Select "2. Fix Goored" by typing 2 and pressing Enter.
  • Make sure all instances of Firefox are closed at this point.
  • Type y at the prompt and press Enter again.
  • A log will open, please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredLog.txt).
Note: If you receive a message saying that GooredFix needs your system to be restarted, please close all applications and reboot your system. Please also allow any registry changes that may be prompted by any of your security programs.

Hi,

I scanned with Malwarebytes last evening; quarantined & deleted the Rpojumuhifo again. Cannot delete. I don't know if this is the only one left.

Interesting, stubborn little bugger isn't it. Run combofix again, and post the log. Originally cf got it, but it came back at some point. Maybe before we killed the driver file.
