Was getting help in a previous thread but was out of town for a while and the thread was closed. I am still having a few problems. So how do I tell if the problem was resolved and if this is a re-formater type problem is it safe to transfer over digital pictures and mp3's(mp3's are from Itunes not form p2p sites). If it's wasier to re-format thats cool as long as I can transfer the pics.
Ive attached a fresh hijack this log.

I compledted the OTMoveIt stage of the last instruction but everytime I tried to run the RootRepeal scan the computer re-started 45min or so into it so i was unable to save a log file :pullhair:

Given the amount of crud that has already been removed, i'd be tempted to just reformat and reinstall and be done. I'm a little surprised that you managed to accumulate so much with an anti-virus on-board. Does Symantec still update, or has the subscription ended? If it's out of date then I can provide you with links to free software that should help keep your PC clean, or at least cleaner, in future. I don't see any issues with transferring either pictures or mp3s, as long as you can verify their origin. I would however run a scan on whatever medium you use to transfer them before you actually put them back, just to be on the safe side.
I'll go pick up an external drive and begin the re-format process. My subscription had been expired for about 2 weeks, jsut never got around to redoing it. What in your optinion would be the best AV softeare out there (free or otherwise).
I use NOD32 by a company called ESET on my Desktop. I feel it offers more protection than the free AVs but then I take this some places that require a little extra protection in this line of work. If you prefer free:

AVG Free Edition: Available here.
avast! 4 Home Edition: Available here
AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic :Available here

I use AVG and AntiVir on different lappys and both run happily. AVG is a little resource hungry, so if your computer is a little weak processor-wise, i'd try AntiVir instead.
If you stay away from naughty sites then a free AV will probably be sufficient, but if you surf the dark side i'd consider investing some money for that little extra surfing confidence

Firewall.

I am unsure from your log whether or not you have a software firewall installed.
If you have, and i've missed it, please ignore this.
If you haven't, or are using the firewall that comes with Service Pack 2, then you need to install one. While the SP2 firewall is better than nothing, it doesn't monitor outgoing traffic, so anything malicious on your computer can 'phone home' at will.
There are a couple of free firewalls available.
Comodo Firewall Pro, available here. This download has both a firewall and anti-virus in the same package, so be sure that you uncheck the AV option if you choose to install this one.
PC Tools Firewall Plus, available here.
Online Armor Free, available here.

Again, while you can download both to see which one you prefer, only install one at a time - running two or more firewalls simultaneously can cause conflicts resulting in less, not more, protection.

finally, i'd install WinPatrol - you have a choice of both free and paid-for versions, so take your pick.
Also, I suggest you download the installation files of your choice and back them up too. Once you've reinstalled, installed all the security programs and then , and only then, go back online and update everything - AV, Windows etc…
