Okay, the problem is that whenever i boot my PC, a couple of minutes later my internet gets disconnected and after that my volume is gone, i mean whenever i play games i get no sounds. I have 2 Hard disk drive C: and F: respectively, and i suspect that the infection came from drive F: because i formatted the system drive C: last week, well F: is where my brother downloads stuff from the net…

Edit: so I just recently found that after my PC start, the generic host service for Win32 crashed, well it displays a pop up to send or don't send report to microsoft, so i am assuming it crashed. So after that my sound is gone, on movies, games, and youtube videos but my sound schemes still has sounds (weird). And after 2 hours my internet Connection is gone i cant repair it or do something and when i disable it, it can't be re-enabled also the tray icon freezes there. I think that is all there is to it, or so i think anyways.

Edit : So i Scanned my computer today with AVG and there were 74 infections on my computer and 99% of it came from the volume F: and most of them are trojans so i will be listing the viruses here. And I am tempted to defragment my registry using TuneUp Utilities but that might worsten my problem so i am awaiting instructions…

Ordered by how many files infected:
Trojan Horse Generic12.CBYA - moved to virus vault
Trojan Horse Generic12.CCCY - moved to virus vault
Trojan Horse SHeur.CADC - Deleted
Worm/Generic.ROH - moved to virus vault (this one resides on drive C: my system drive)
Worm/Autorun.FO - moved to virus vault

But even if AVG deleted or moved those viruses my problem persisted

and so here is my latest HJT log after the scan.

  • You may need two posts to fit them both in.
No worries anymore, i just reformatted my system because i found out that the CD i was using for the OS was a cracked version of Windows XP so i just reformatted it again with a genuine copy of windows XP…. Though i just have some questions on some things. Can I?
Yay! :woot: well okay since most peeps cant give me valid answers for these questions so i am hoping you can, though i think you can B) So i have been reading the best practices forum so here goes - i tried the limited user accounts but it seems that my limited account is being denied of deleting/moving files, so how do i configure it to actually just access certain files, folders or drives? like dummy1 has the privilege over storage drive(D:) or dummy2 is limited only for the my documents folder - so on the anti-spyware programs that were recommended does these software go along well together or does it conflict with each other? SpywareBlaster SpywareGuard Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware - if you know about tune-up utilities there is a functionality about defragmenting the registry or changing the boot screen and logon screens how safe is it and what are the consequences? - also the CCleaner's deleting registry entries is it safe doing it? - can i keep the HJT and ERUNT programs installed? - what are the best ways to prevent from getting infected through USB it seems that i am always infected that way - lastly any recommendations on firewall and antivirus software on your side? (currently I am using AVG8 and COMODO firewall) these are all the questions and thank you for your time and keep up the good work
Note: all of the below recommendations are my personal opinion only - taken from my personal knowledge and experience and in no-way respresent the WTT forum or it's administrators.

limited account - how do i configure it to actually just access certain files, folders or drives?

It's a matter of setting the correct permissions - good tutorial here
http://www.optimizingpc.com/install/useraccounts.html

do these software go along well together
SpywareBlaster
SpywareGuard
Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware

They all work nicely together… MalwareBytes is a standalone scanner.

if you know about tune-up utilities there is a functionality about defragmenting the registry or changing the boot screen and logon screens how safe is it and what are the consequences?

My personal opinion only - I don't think a utility like this is needed - there really is no need to mess with the registry - ever.

also the CCleaner's deleting registry entries is it safe doing it?

Again - My personal opinion - I wouldn't ever use it - I recommend using ATF cleaner to delete temporary files for that reason

Download - ATF CLEANER
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

can i keep the HJT and ERUNT programs installed

Delete HJT keep Erunt - if you ever ran into any problems again in the future you would need the latest version of HJT anyway.
It is always wise to back up data - Erunt refreshes your back-ups every 30 days (or sooner if you set the preference - it's a good utility)

what are the best ways to prevent from getting infected through USB it seems that i am always infected that way

Use flash disinfector

Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from HERE and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder…it will help protect your drives from future infection.

lastly any recommendations on firewall and antivirus software on your side?
(currently I am using AVG8 and COMODO firewall)

Those two programs are great and should offer you adequate protection.

(personally I use Avira Antivir and Comodo - but really it's personal preference Avast, Avira Anti-Vir and AVG are excellent free programs)

Make sure you use only ONE antivirus and firwall, keep all of your programs up to date,

I hope this has been helpful to you.

Take a good read of all our forum topics - you will find many helpful articles.

Stay safe :wavey:
seems that the Flash_Disinfector.exe link is broken? i get a page not found display… and i am reading the tutorial as of the moment :D so again thanks for the tips and helping me on my questions though i was already losing hope on getting a reply on my thread but i guess you guys are busy when i posted this. well anyways i am satisfied with the answers.
Interesting - the flash disinfector link works fine for me…

right click it and save target as…should download

It may be the security setting you have on your browser….. use IE not Firefox…

if still no luck try here -
If it's a USB that hasn't been disinfected before - yes…If it has been disinfected - there is a file left on the USB that will help protect it from future infections - having said that…It's always a good idea to run it often as malware writers look for ways to circumvent security tools and some have targeted the autorun.inf file left by flash disinfector…Reformat them every now and then once all the data has been transferred
Sorry that the thread got so biased  I am still a tad lost about the user accounts seems that windows make my partition drives private also, so my sister cant access her own files now :( with the limited rights. I dont know about CACLS as i understand it edits the rights for each user but i only want that each user has access to his or her own folders in the partitions and make it private for others.
