Lets remove some leftovers and then see how it's running.

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

1. With Vista, All tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe)
With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

I suggest you do this:

I need you to Right Click on this file and look at the properties
C:\Windows\system32\ActiveToolBand.dll

If, in File Properties, file size is 28 kb and company information is missing: parasite, detected as W32/Istbar.WL@dl

Click Start > Run and Copy/Paste these commands hitting enter after each one:

sc stop CLTNetCnService Hit enter.

sc delete CLTNetCnService Hit enter.

1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
Bonjour

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://en.ie.acer.yahoo.com
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://en.ie.acer.yahoo.com
O23 - Service: Bonjour Service - Apple Inc. - C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe
O23 - Service: Symantec Lic NetConnect service (CLTNetCnService) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exe (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thanks for the assistance.

Done. File size is 292kb. Not sure what you mean by Company information? When I right click select Details tab: ActiveToolBandModule File version 2.5.2.0 Copyright 2005 etc

Click Start > Run and Copy/Paste these commands hitting enter after each one:

sc stop CLTNetCnService Hit enter.

sc delete CLTNetCnService Hit enter.

Done. Computer is behaving 'normally' at this very moment, but that doesn't mean much. It's been behaving so erratically lately…but right now it's fine.

Done. Computer seems stable as before. One thing I've noticed is that sometimes the computer slows down to a crawl when I'm using bandwidth of any kind. For downloading and so on…the mouse pointer becomes very jerky if I try to move it. Almost like it's in slow motion. It doesn't matter if I'm downloading at 100 kb/s or 640 kb/s (the max speed for my connection). This has been a recurring problem for weeks now and most recently occurred just a couple of hours ago…

But right now after an earlier reboot, it's perfectly smooth even though I'm downloading a new version of iTunes at 600 kb/s. So that's one difference in the behaviour of my PC.
