Hi Team, :wavey:

Can someone please check this to make sure I am completely clean, and give some advice as to where this is most likely to have been picked up.
I have downloaded only device drivers from Dell and a zipped program "Emsa DiskCheck 1.0.77" which I scanned with MBAM prior to unzipping,
now since the effects of "Quarantined and deleted" the shortcut for "DiskCheck" in my start menu now states "shortcut missing",
is this just a coincidence?.(I think so.)
I scan about every 2nd day with MBAM, and the day prior to the download of the zipped file the MBAM scan log was clean, 0 infections.

I suspect that the detection is a false-positive. The file C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\msmsgs.exe appears on my machine and although I can't rule out that yours is either not the original or perhaps has been infected, I suspect not.
You can use the Restore button under the Quarantine Tab to replace the file and then have MBAM scan again. I just right clicked the C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$ folder and scanned that from within the context menu and with the latest updates mine came back clean.

now since the effects of "Quarantined and deleted" the shortcut for "DiskCheck" in my start menu now states "shortcut missing",
is this just a coincidence?.(I think so.)

I'd say so too.
Hello Noviciate

Thanks for the speedy reply,

I will use the Restore button under the Quarantine Tab to replace the file and then have MBAM scan again, I will post back with the scan results.

As for the missing shortcut in my start menu I have simply pinned the executable there again and removed the old, after reinstalling the program again.(Just to be safe)

Thanks for your advice,
Jkc73
Here are the results, I scanned the whole C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\ folder,
I thought it strange that old version of messenger would be infected, I don't use it and it never gets started up.
F/P as I 1st suspected.
