I have updated my display driver.
I have also increased my internet upload speed.
None of those processes were in my start-up tab, but some were in my services (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services)
So I disabled them.
It starts up slightly faster and at a competent speed, but still not as fast as it was.
While Tune Up Utilities 2009 may have been useful to you at a point in your work, I am generally not convinced of its usefulness, particularly because I prefer to make adjustments manually.
You presently have it running actively in the background, which is not necessary unless you intend to be using it on a regular basis.
While AdAware has been a tried-and-true anti malware utility, other utilities have become stronger and more useful in the past couple of years.
I like SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware as alternatives. I only use them as manual scans on a routine basis.
You may benefit from disabling AdAware 2007 or uninstalling it, or updating to the most recent version of AdAware.
My preference would be to move to another product, but that is your choice.
It appears that you have several processes interacting with internet connections.
That is not a "bad thing", but does represent activity that may be consuming resources and distracting from your machine's performance.
You can gather additional information about what processes may be actively involved with contacting the internet.

I'm not specifically recommending that you stop any of those connections, since some are essential, and some may be your preference.
Process Explorer is simply a tool to give you more information about what is actively involved.
Since this is a school laptop, it has Sophos Antivirus running as it's main antivirus; AdAware has never done anything to show it is there except for its installation files. (It has never popped up stating an error or anything). I have TuneUp running as recommended by my school. I'm also not fussed about the programs which are connecting to the internet; my connection speed is quite fast so it barely affects me. Are there any major errors which should be fixed?
You have a fine machine.
It appears to be running quite well and compares favorably with other machines of its type and other computers worldwide in general.
There are no major problems that require fixing.
You have a dual core CPU each running at 2260mhz <– that's very good, especially for a laptop
You have 2048mb RAM which is the best "sweet spot" for XP operating system. <– That's as good as it will get for XP
You are fully updated with XP SP3
The Pit Test - Software Performance is measured at "resting state", meaning relatively little running at the time of test other than background processes.
A rule of thumb is to try to have less than 80% of physical memory (RAM) committed at any one time with various open programs.
Since at "resting state" your machine is consuming 20% RAM, that leaves you only 60% for applications you may wish to run, before potential slow-down can occur via swapping into virtual memory (utilizing HD emulated memory).
Still no big deal. You have not mentioned any problem with having multiple applications and windows open.
At resting state, your CPU usage should be zero 0%, meaning no consumption of CPU resources.
Your machine has 6% utilization…. and in my opinion it should be 0%
The only thing that I see going on with your machine is that there are 43 processes running active from Startup.
This machine I'm typing on right now has 21 processes running at resting state.
I'm not any more worried about your internet access speed that you are, if it is brisk and meets your expectations and is generally within guidelines of what you are subscribing to.
My concern is that you may have various auto-updaters and .dll processes active which may be contributing to the slow boot-up.
You do express comparative concern about boot time.
Again, it is no big deal.
you do not appear to have any "bad" browser helper objects, but you may have a few "annoying ones". that are not necessary.
I have a "personal preference" for not running Adobe Reader related objects.
So what to possibly do? I would mostly suggest that you declare "success" and just go about enjoying your computing activities.
If you continue to have annoyance of boot time and background activity, you may benefit from a Malware Forum baseline checkup.
It is "not" urgent for you to do this. I'm not even recommending that you do.
I'm just stating that it is one additional way to assure yourself of what it running and what you may choose to reduce from active background running.
