Hi, and welcome to the WTT forums
I have moved your post here, (away from the tutorial)……it just keeps things neater this way
If you want to select the text, there are a number of ways…but try this:
1 Click on the Icon immediately to the left of the C: (in the extreme top of the command box)
2 Click on Edit
3 Select (as required) for this example select "Mark"
4 You will now (usually!) be able to use your mouse to highlight the text you need.
5 With the required text highlighted
6 Hold down Ctrl and hit c on the keyboard ( this will copy the selected text to clipboard)
7 If you want to create a document with this information pasted into it then try this:
8 Click on Start
9 Click on Run
10 Type in the white box
wordpad
a blank page will open
11 hold down Ctrl and hit v on the keyboard (this will paste the text into the document)
Remember that to close the black command box, you just need to type
exit
and hit the Enter key

What I do is modify the Options property for Command Prompt (cmd.exe) so mark, copy and paste are always available.
Right click on your Command Prompt icon and select Properties
Click on the Options tab
Under Edit Options, check the Quick Edit box
Click Apply then Exit
Now any time you start a Command Prompt, you simply use your mouse like you would in any other windw to mark, copy and paste.
Additionally, under the Layout tab, I increase the height and width of the Command Prompt window and change it's location so it centered on the screen and the bottom is an inch or so above the Task Bar.
