Lucid said that it's NTFS compatibility driver was unable to mount the drive.
The partition is NOT damaged, it merely cannot be accessed.
Linux does not have native support for NTFS, the compatibility driver named ntfs-3g is not perfect and the version of linux you are trying to use may not have the most updated version.
Secondly, you determined that drive is a Seagate drive.
There is an alternative version of seatools that does not include a GUI (because the GUI cannot be used on that system)
You can download and run THIS tool.
http://www.seagate.c...ToolsDOS112.ISO
SeaTools (text) v1.12
Note: If you have system compatibility problems with the v2 GUI version, please use the v1 Text version. (link above) It has the same level of diagnostic capability and hardware support. These two versions are updated and released together.
This will allow you to scan your drive and you will only need your keyboard.
Also for terms of backing up your data, I gave you instructions for Ubuntu, try using those. Ubuntu's compatibility driver (ntfs-3g) is more up to date and will properly access your drive as it did before.
I hope this helps you.
