I found this for the Agere PCI\VEN_11C1&DEV_0620&SUBSYS_062111C1 modem:

http://members.drive...mp;action=winfo

You need to be a member to download it or pay a small fee. I have a membership at DriverGuide so I got it for you. Click on the link below:

http://cid-5196baf63...px/.Public?uc=1

1. Point to AgereModem.zip then slide to the right and click on Download2
2. Save the AgereModem.zip to your computer
2. Right click on AgereModem.zip and extract the files
3. Double click on setup.exe

That will install the driver and hopefully fix the problem. I hope this is the right driver. After install, open Device Manager and see if the yellow mark has gone away.

One step forward, two steps back ... sounds like a dance :D

Let's start over sort of as I think we are going down a useless path. You said you could not setup your internet because you could not connect to your modem. I was thinking Dial-up/Modem where I think you mean the modem provided to you by your ISP.

Take another look at device manager (devmgmt.msc) and expand the Network Adapters area and tell me what is shown there, word for word please.

Next, click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

There should be no image or uploading involved. Just copy (Ctrl+A to select all then Ctrl+C to copy) the text in the Notepad window and paste (Ctrl+V) it in your reply here.

AH, okay. There is no output from the ipconfig /all command so Imisse4d it.

The expanded Network adapters info is missing both your network devices, which is why you have no network connection.

Are you sure the recovery CD (PC Angel) you used is for this computer? It doesn't seen to have a lot of the necessary drivers. In your previous posts of Device Manager there were several PCI entries with yellow marks. I suspect one of them is the network device that needs a driver installed for it.

Can you post the PCI\VEN info for each of them. Maybe that will tell me what the make and model for the network device is.

this is definitely the cd, i've only had 1 other computer and that one didnt hav a recovery cd, it was given to me by somebody. does this have to do with the fact that i put in a different hard drive? i was concerned about this before. the reason why i'm thinking this is because the old hard drive had a recovery partition so maybe the drivers or something like that was in there and this cd really is just the mininum needed to get up and running? something else just dawned on me!!!!!! whenever i formatted and used this cd it always restored everything and did windows updates (this time it didnt even attempt to). and like i said it installed EVERYTHING that was there like whn i took it home from the store..ie; all the ad ware..free trials..Bigfix..microsoft digital imaging trial..aol..etc..etc..i mean even right down to the big E (Emachines) for the wallpaper! it has to be because this is a different hard drive! because this time none of that is there..no? i sincerely doubt theres any other cd's because all my software cd's are together. what do you think of the things i pointed out? i will get those codes up for you tomorrow, cant right now

No, the main purpose of the CD is to provide recovery when you have to replace a hard drive. As I mentioned way back, I used PC Angel on a new hard drive and it worked fine, including recreating the PC Angel partition on the hard drive.

Are you using a new drive or is this the 20GB one you found? Try wiping the drive completely the use PC Angel recovery CD again. To wipe it, download and run DBAN (Darrick's Boot and Nuke). It's a .iso file you use to create a bootable CD from. I use ImgBurn to do this but other burner software will do it as well (Roxio, Nero, Ahead, etc.)

Boot it then at the prompt, enter autonuke.

Let it run for a few minutes, no need to do the entire drive. Just need enough to wipe the partition table. That will make it a raw, unallocated drive. Now try the recovery CD again and see what happens.

Rats, I forgot you had used Webroot before, so I doubt DBAN will make any difference. I hate to say it but I'm stumped. I'll ask the other techs here to take a look at this (long .... long) thread and see if they have any ideas.

Can you provide the PCI\VEN data for each of the devices in Device Manager that have a yellow mark.

Open a Command Prompt.
Enter set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
Enter devmgmt.msc
Click on View then Show hidden devices

Double click on each one with Yellow then click on the Details tab. In the Properties drop down, select Hardware IDs.
Post that data here.
