FYI, about domain name lookups. Some registrars will "park" a name that's recently been looked up but not registrered. I've often used http://whois.domaintools.com/ and never had that issue.

I like the sound of Malware Busters that Shaba suggested. Also, miekiemoes suggested PCHealth.com and I think that one sounds good and implies a broader help area than just security. PCSolutions sounds good too for the same reason. Some of the suggestions for names which include a word with a high search rating may pay off by producing a lot of hits, but they may not be names that would be easily remembered. They're either too long or convoluted. No one is going to tell their friends, "I got my computer fixed at this great online site, 'PleaseHelpMeBeforeIThrowMyComputerOutTheWindow.com.'" I think we should try to keep it simple, catchy, and easy to remember.

I sense that terms will change, as they always do, so perhaps let's not be quickly drawn to words like Malware or Spyware. Sorta like the word Adware is no longer considered as a security related title. In addition, titles using these terms are also already being ravaged by rogues, and may come to be over-identified with the wrong thing, while trying to do the right thing.

A brand name like TC has withstood the weathering well actually, and is more a household word than I believe any other of the excellent forums we work all participate at. So I suggest a brand, a type and a tie to the concepts of what we do.

Briggs Security Network (BSN)

Ride out the name recognition vacuum. Looking through this list of folks who have participated in voting here and all the others who participate actively here the vacuum will soon be filled. A few creative methods of redirecting the current flow to it and viola - the Phoenix has risen.

Some great ideas here, but no clear cut favorites yet. These are good, but taken: pchealth -> registered by Microsoft since 1997 pcsolutions allaboutsecurity healthycomputer There are a couple others I like that are still available. I won't mention them, so that they don't get snapped up. Although at first it seems like the obvious choice, I think there are some great reasons listed here for NOT using spyware, or malware in the domain name. Maybe something more general computer related, or even some obscure term (think yahoo, google, flickr, digg, newegg), or fun. I forgot I had registered the domain WhatTheTech.com. A possibility.
