I made the rescue disk and I let it go all the way until it just said "MACRIUM REFLECT" in large letters. That is where I stopped for fear it would start restoring. It did boot up with it. Don't know what else is on it, but figured since it said macrium reflect that it worked.

The rescue disk works fine, congratulations

What time is it there now. It is 1:00 pm here. Is it night time there? If so, how can you answer me during the day?
I am a very inquisitive person, as you can probably tell. I am like a little kid that always says "why".

It is now 3.30am Tuesday here. Living in the country I go to bed early as I have no interest in TV. I arise about 2am because it it super peaceful and return to bed at about 5am until about 7am. At 8am I will be taking my wife, Zoe to the Golf course where she plays about three times a week and then back here to take our dog Bella for a walk. Time then for a nice cup of tea and to do some computer work in my small home workshop when needed. So I do have some free time to check out the forum here and attend to various other things during my day as I'm semi-retired. A peaceful and simple life (finally) :)

Cheers,
Lee

So you are a whole day ahead of us, because it is Monday, 5:15 pm. That just always amazes me. I have never heard of anyone with that kind of schedule. I have insomnia, so I will be up still at 2 am. I am glad you have a happy life and are content. Anyway, where should we go from here on the computer. How come when I click on the external drive, it doesn't pull up my programs where I can recognize? How could I pull up my spreadsheet on Microsoft excel if I had to?

There should be nothing on your external hard drive now except the Reflect ISO and the Hallmark card thingy you saved.

If you wish to explore the Reflect ISO, just right-click it and tick the W7 box in the window that opens and click on OK. Any of the folders in there can be explored but I have no idea in what folder your Excel spreadsheet is. It will be in the same folder it is in on your PC.

Yep, my external is good. Gosh how I hate to sound dumb again, but where is the reflect iso? I opened my external hard drive and there was no W7? Now I have some more questions to ask. Do you want them all at once, or one at a time. They are not as complex. I will have to print out everything you told me about backing up.

It should be the only file on your hard drive with the reflect symbol.

The top one you should have deleted or did you delete both?

When I go to "computer" they have about 5 hard drives listed,(which I don't have) and I clicked on my external hard drive. That is the only one on my computer. I right clicked on the drive and there was no W7, I clicked explore, There were two choices, "system reserve" and "no name"., I clicked both to look at them. and found Programs and when I opened it, it wasn't a list of my programs, just names and numbers that I didn't know what they meant. . Some I tried opening and it said I was denied access. This is the problem I had after the first backup I did.

When I go to "computer" they have about 5 hard drives listed,(which I don't have) That does not make sense. Show me a screenshot of when you "go to Computer and they have about 5 hard drives listed" please.

Doesn't make sense to me either. Sometimes after I reboot it goes back to two. The "J" drive is my external hard drive. hard_drives.PNG

Open your J: drive and look for the Reflect ISO and include a screenshot please of that drive. We will get to the many drives issue later.

Looks like Lee is currently away for now.

From the my computer window, you double clicked on the J: drive and it took your straight to that window contained on those screen shots?

Also if you are looking for Documents, try Users\<Your Account's Username*>\Documents

I saw that you also had some of your files saved to the desktop. To access these files try Users\<Your Account's Username*>\Desktop

Alternatively, in your search pane if you are looking for a file with a specific extension i.e. .exe .doc .mp3 etc...
You can type *.<extension**> Then press Enter

*For example Users\Public\Ducoments
** For example *.xls

If that is your J: drive Patti (your external hard drive), you did two thing wrong.

1. You deleted both the Reflect ISO backups when I advised you to delete the top one only:
ScreenClip000012.jpg

2. You did not delete everything on it except keeping the one Reflect ISO image as instructed. Why not, as you said you did follow those instructions?

If you can't follow my simple instructions Patti we are going nowhere here. You are wasting your time and likewise I am wasting mine, so we may as well wind this thread up.

Cheers and all the best,
Lee

If you want to quit me, you can, but I did follow your instructions. Why do you accuse me of lying. All that is left in the J drive is the one IWO image of 9-8 and the Hallmark backup. This isn't exactly what I wanted to wake up to - being called a liar and abandoned.
