Having looked at your thread here and also over at MWB its likely that you are getting "timed out" due to using a dial up (narrow band)Internet Connection for updating MWB.

To check, take your computer to a chum who has broadband via a router..... and plug in your machine with a Cat 5 cable to the router...if it updates there OK you will know you have found the answer.

I did some research and I found a program, called Auslogics BoostSpeed (the trial version). They had a program called "Auslogics Internet Optimizer" so I ran that and restarted and tried to run MBAM again, and it worked. So, now, I'm able to update MBAM... :woot:

Thank You,
Michael

Hi Rhineus.

I'm glad the problem got resolved, but according to this post: http://www.malwareby...p...st&p=171223

As suggested by others, you are using a proxy. The proxy is going to be the download accelerators, or download managers you are using and that we discussed way back in this thread. They are endlessly problematic and not a surprise at all that they are screwing things up.

I don't know what changes were made by that program you mentioned (Auslogics) but I can say that my general opinion on this type of software is to stay far away from them. In your particular case, I'm glad it fixed your problem. I almost wonder if it didn't break something else while it was "fixing" your mbam problem by messing with those proxy settings.
