I did some research and I found a program, called Auslogics BoostSpeed (the trial version). They had a program called "Auslogics Internet Optimizer" so I ran that and restarted and tried to run MBAM again, and it worked. So, now, I'm able to update MBAM...Having looked at your thread here and also over at MWB its likely that you are getting "timed out" due to using a dial up (narrow band)Internet Connection for updating MWB.
To check, take your computer to a chum who has broadband via a router..... and plug in your machine with a Cat 5 cable to the router...if it updates there OK you will know you have found the answer.
