ok ax or dough, i tried installing the new driver by add new hardware, find driver (browse) etc.. and it worked! all i need now (i think) is to know how to set my speakers as my sound device, when i go into control panel, sounds and audio devices, under the volume tab it still says no audio device, and under that is greyed out. but when i go to the hardware tab there is a soundMAX thing there which says it is working properly.. is this a good thing? will my speakers work once i get them as an audio device loll?

Glad to hear the driver install was successful. Your audio device should not be your speakers, it will be the device for which you installed the driver. Just to be sure, can you check to see if the Windows Audio service is started in Start|Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services?

Thanks,

Ax
