Did I do any damage deleting those files?

I don't think so, but don't delete anything else.

Lets do this:

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Now do some surfing and let me know how it goes.

Much better. I was able to open my mail and just to see I went to some of the sites that knocked me offline and it was ok. Do you think the cws is gone? What do I do about the msconfi.exe? Should I delete the old file? Im not sure I did that one right as it doesnt come up when I type in msconf. Also its in another language. I will install anything you tell me too! What I have now is ad-aware, spybot, trendmicro spyware( i will uninstall if you think) Avg and windows firewall. Also have ccleaner and registry mechanic. I spoke too soon, I guess.Left here & typed in www.blair.com and as the page was loading I was knocked offline.

Also its in another language.

Yes, you can delete that one.

You should only run one Anti-Virus program. Either keep Trend Micro or Grisoft's Avg.

I would also suggest you install Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard.

After you install them, be sure to check for updates.

I'll leave this topic open for a couple more days just in case you need to post back.

Ok here is what i did. I downloaded the software and ran. Then I deleted the old msconfig.exe. Then I did a search for msconfig and there are still 2. In pchealth the file is english. in 1386 its the new version. But when I type in the msconfig in run the english version comes up. Should it delete the file in pchealth? I uninstalled trend micro and I am going to download cwshredder. I am very confused about the msconfig.

If you type in msconfig and it's working, leave it alone.

Spyware Guard doesn't open like Spyware Blaster. It just runs in the background.

I don't know if SiggYX had you download this or not. If you already have it, just follow the instructions on running it.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Then please run Ewido, click on the Scanner run a full scan and let it clean everything it finds. Save the logfile from the scan.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

That was uninstalled last week because it would not run. I will have to uninstall sb first and then will install ewido. Should I run in safe mode?

You shouldn't need to uninstall Spyware Blaster to run this. Yes, about Safe Mode. Just follow the instructions.
