Candice,

OK... it looks like we need to run as Administrator.

Please enter safe mode just as we did before. Bring up the run box and put C:\Users\cici\Desktop\NAWA1110.exe in the box... and then hold the CTRL key and the Shift key down. While holding them, press Enter. This should run it as administrator and hopefully will now work.

nope, didn't work...tried twice...holding shift and control down, then hitting the enter key didn't work...still says it must run as administrator.... i'll try the other way to run as administrator, by going into IE, right clicking run as administrator.... nope, didn't work. tried three times

Candice,

Just because your computer is telling us that it wants to upgrade the Bios... maybe it doesn't "need" to be updated.

Let's do this instead (we will delete the program for updating bios in a bit if this works alright).

In the lower left of your screen click on the Start button
On the white line (search area) type cmd.
at the top of this window your should now see cmd listed. Right click on it and select Run as Administrator
Posted Image
A command prompt window will open. At the command prompt type chkdsk c: /r and then press enter.
A window should pop up:
Posted Image
click on schedule disk check
Restart your computer.

It will then go through a bunch of diagnostics and finally end up with a screen something like this:
Posted Image

Your computer then will restart. If you happen to see what errors were found, let me know... if you don't... don't worry about it.

After it has restarted... please let me know how things seem to be running.

Did you right click on cmd that you typed... or on the cmd with the little black box at the top of the window like in the picture?

i right clicked on the cmd box on top with the black box to it's left.... i did not right click on the cmd i typed....when you right click on the one you type, you just get the option to select all.... so no, i right clicked on the cmd box that appeared up top.... but then that window pops up saying are you sure you want to do this? are you sure you want to make changes to this computer??? i get nervous when what happens isn't what you said would happen

As I said... I don't have a windows 7 system so I can't test out the commands. I'm trusting information from others (that usually works).

Let's try it slightly different.

After you type in the cmd... then hold down the CTRL button and the Shift button and press enter at the same time.

The command prompt window should open and then you can input chkdsk c: /r and continue.

Of course... if it doesn't. Let me know.

Well :pullhair:

We'll try it a different way again.

Click on start in the lower left of your screen and then select All programs and then Accessories.

You should be able to see that funny black box and then Command Prompt in the list. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.

Hopefully (again) this will open the command prompt window.

We aren't trying to update the bios at this point. Chkdsk just runs some checks on your drive and may make your system not ask to update the bios.

Sounds like you're in the right place. Select y . If your system doesn't automatically reboot.... then go ahead a reboot it yourself (reboot = restart)
