Hi Ultilee Stupid,

When you downloaded FixIT did you click the run button as stated in the instructions? If you did then try downloading it again but this time use the save button. Save it to your desktop. Right click the downloaded file and click "Run as Administrator"

Hi Ultilee Stupid, That indicates the tool has finished. Close it and try the update again.

Tried it but still nothing. On Fixt it. The tool seems to start, says it's creating a restore point, scans for 10seconds or so then the above happens. For the windows update you mention earlier that i should go to Windows Update Site using Internet Explorer but my IE isn't connecting so i sent to Control Panel > Security > Windows Update Is this the right thing to do?

Hi Ultilee Stupid,

On Fixt it. The tool seems to start, says it's creating a restore point, scans for 10seconds or so then the above happens.

That would indicate the tool did run and complete.

Using Update may or may not work. Did you get an error message?

What message do you recieve when you open IE?

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

This is in the the search toolbar

http://click.freeze....intage=20090101

At the bottom of the browser it says Internet | Protection Mode: Off

When i click Diagnoise Connection Problems, there are instructions to change the Proxy server. Not sure what that means

For the Windows update

Error(s) found:

Code 643 Windows Update encountered an unknown error
Get help with this error

I clicked help

result for "WindowsUpdate_00000643" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

Hi Ultilee Stupid,

I don't see a proxy server in your logs. We can check to see if one snuck in on us.

Open your Internet Explorer:
  • At the top click Tools, click Internet Options
  • On the Connections Tab click Lan Settings
  • Uncheck use a proxy server

It may also be an add on.

click Start | (All) Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet Explorer (No add-ons).

Also check in Comodo and ensure iexplore.exe is allowed to connect.

Unchecked Proxy LAN settings

When i click Start | (All) Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet Explorer (No add-ons).

Another IE browser pops up

Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons

All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.
To continue to your home page, click the Home button.
To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again.

Were in Comodo do i check for that?

Hi Ultilee Stupid,

Unchecked Proxy LAN settings

Did you try connecting after you unchecked the box? Try to go to google.com

When i click Start | (All) Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet Explorer (No add-ons).

Another IE browser pops up

That's what is supossed to happen. Are you able to browse with this version of IE?

If you are able to browse with IE after trying the above then Comodo is not a problem. I'll see if I find the settings though.

I'm not quite sure. i didn't get a chance to try IE yesterday but IE on the other accounts of the computer were working fine. I opened IE this morning and it was working. It might have been when i Unchecked Proxy LAN settings, maybe i needed to reboot for it to work? i'm not sure.

Hi Ultilee Stupid,

It might have been when i Unchecked Proxy LAN settings

This probably did it. Provided you are running IE normaly, that is you are just clicking it's icon to run it, we can say it's fixed.

Let's see what we can do about the updates.

Which update is giving you the problem? Is it a .Net FrameWork update?
