So if I understand correctly, those are the only items you have disabled?

Here's what I have disabled in Start Up Cop: Motive Smartbridge A Verizon App OuickTime Task Yahoo Pager Adobe Reader Speed launch hpoddt01.exe hpoddt01.exe.Ink.disable Microsoft Office I shut my computer down when not in use, and these things slow down the start up. They all start anyway when I manually start them.

Ok, those are fine. Do you happen to use ZoneAlarm's Secure IM component?

No I don't. I tried it when I first got zone alarm, but found it got in my way a lot. In retrospect, it would be a lot leess hassle than getting booted all the time. Should I try it again?

No, it was suggested that ZA might be causing those entries to show up in the RootkitRevealer log, that's all.

Please re-enable any protection programs that may have been disabled during the cleaning process. Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers.

• On a regular basis, please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows, including the latest version of Internet Explorer. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.
• In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:
  • Ad-Aware SE. A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. You have this installed currently. Please keep it updated and run it on a regular basis.
  • Spybot-Search & Destroy. A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features. You have this installed currently. Please keep it updated and run it on a regular basis.
  • SpywareBlaster. A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.
  Keeping these programs up-to-date and running them regularly can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.
• Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here.
• Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

Thank you. I have automatic updates, with 'ask permission to install', for Windows and Windows Office. I have AdAware, Spybot S&D, I use the TeaTimer. and the bad download protection. I have Pop This in addition to the pop-up blocker in IE. I have Spyware Blaster, Spyware Guard and a whole lot of stuff. I still find data miners and stuff from time to time, even though I religiously update and run everything once a week. My anti-Viral NOD32 is set to update every hour. I will install Firefox, if I can nuke IE, otherwise with all the graphics software and space needed for saving files, I don't have enough space for an additional browser.
