Problem with Windows 7 recognizing usb receivers...

mouse

Best Answer terry1966 , 01 May 2015 - 01:01 AM

seeing how no usb devices work then i think i'd be looking at a power issue with the usb ports or on the 5v rail of the psu. this is hp's usb troubleshooting guide run through it and see if anything solves your problems. :- http://support.hp.co...... Go to the full post

ok terry i did as suggested in the link and the teredo was uninstalled, but didn't reappear. not suppose to be a big deal if i remember right. also i use my samsung s5actice with at&t as a modem to connect to the internet so not sure if that matters but letting you know. also uninstalled the unknown two and did the d'load from logitech you sent and got the same result...it opens to the pic i sent but next button won't highlight, yet it shows the unifyer recognizes the mouse. since the teredos didn't come back the lan properties/advanced shows what they did as i had mentioned them. i guess since they are gone no value is needed! the unifying pic shows the program recognizes the mouse but when i turn off...then on to pair it, i can't continue as the next button stays dimScreenshot%202015-05-05%2002.24.56_zpsa6Screenshot%202015-05-05%2002.34.58_zpsfxScreenshot%202015-05-05%2002.29.01_zpswb

ok lets recap.

the wireless mouse is still connected and still works on your pc, and you uninstalled both the keyboards when you did everything else and they both came back. yes?

now for your reply.

the unifying pic shows the program recognizes the mouse but when i turn off...then on to pair it, i can't continue as the next button stays dim

the wireless mouse is already connected and paired to your pc according to the first picture so trying to pair it again won't achieve anything unless you unpair it in the first place and why the next button stays dim. ;)

i did as suggested in the link and the teredo was uninstalled, but didn't reappear. not suppose to be a big deal if i remember right. also i use my samsung s5actice with at&t as a modem to connect to the internet so not sure if that matters but letting you know.

since the teredos didn't come back the lan properties/advanced shows what they did as i had mentioned them. i guess since they are gone no value is needed!

yes the teredo devices are virtual devices used for ipv6 compatibility when using ipv4 connections and nothing to worry about.

also the wireless lan or the network adaptors have nothing at all to do with the wireless mouse and it's operation, and seeing how you no longer have any errors listed for anything there, everything to do with those are fine.

also uninstalled the unknown two and did the d'load from logitech you sent and got the same result.

ok no problem we'll just have to figure out why and try something else.

now the problems i see are :-

1:- you still have 2 keyboards listed and i take it you only have 1 connected. :D

2:- you still have 2 unknown devices showing (probably related to the 2 keyboards problem, so solve one solve both i expect.).

3:- usb receiver still has a problem.

4:- you now have a new entry Non-Plug and Play Drivers (never seen this entry before on a pc as far as i can remember. )

lets work on problem 4 first , can you expand it and show what it says for that.

did a google search and is the non-plug and play drivers listed now because you changed the view to show hidden devices? if so then it's not a problem but would still like to see what's listed under there.

the 2 keyboards listing may not be a problem either :- https://support.micr...n-us/kb/183318/

so that just leaves 2+3 to resolve.

for the 2 unknown devices can you list the id's and we'll see if we can find out what they are and then find drivers. :- http://www.pcworld.c...in-windows.html

ok terry here you go, and yes in DM i had clicked the view tab and show hidden devices. on the mouse the reason i was trying to get the software to continue to see if it included settings for the mouse, i believe it was suppose to. no big deal i guess since it's working. i agree with you on the kb's and them tying to the unknowns and my guess is they will be the ones that are kept because they work. whatever the reciever is on is just out. inside the driver properties of the kb's and the unk the drivers are all the same and if i remember right part of the unifying deal this...on USB Input Device (Logitech Download Assistant) the bottom kb says is just on usb input device. also i was going to mention the wifi mini as you can see is ! again.

ok no problems it's just my memory isn't great and it's been that long since i've actually been into device manager on any windows pc's i forget things. :D

we won't touch anything in the non plug and play drivers.

i missed the microsoft virtual wifi mini port error, or it wasn't there in earlier pics, what is the error code?

i'd uninstall that too and see if it returns.

can you find the hardware id's of the 2 unknown devices so we can find out what they are and install drivers for them.

then that should just mean fixing the usb receiver error.

OK terry, not sure why that one shot came out like that, if you can't read it let me know...those are the details of the kb. the 2 unknowns you see says no driver installed. i noticed when this all first started with my corded kb and corded mouse both quit they both showed the same driver version shown on the kb properties in bottom pic. could we open the string it shows the kb drivers in and copy those two then paste them into the unknown devices folder like the others? just wondered.

ok i'm stumped.

can you show me what's in the windows\inf folder.

only thing i can think of is to try manually installing drivers again and pointing to the windows\inf folder again for all 3, the 2 unknown devices and the usb receiver.

and if nothing changes then just ignore them seeing how everything is working fine anyway.

can you also install both the SetPoint and Flow Scroll from here :- http://support.logit...less-mouse-m510

no idea but i'd leave them there, they have been there years, and think they probably should be, but can't remember for 100% sure.

just wanted to check the usb.inf and usb.pnf files where there.

i couldn't find anything definite for the hardware id's except the devices are logitech, so was hoping installing the extra software might get rid of the unknown hardware description for them and maybe fix the error on the usb device too.

i'd also manually update the drivers for all 3 again and point to this folder to double check things.

but really i'm out of ideas and like i said you can just ignore them because things are working without any problems anyway.

it just bugs me i can't think of a way to sort it, and make everything look nice without the unknown devices and error icon showing in device manager.

if it was in front of me i'd probably spend lots more time trying lots of other things on a trial and error bases to see if i could sort it, things like system file checks, registry checks, windows os updates, etc. etc. but in all honesty i don't even know if it can be sorted.

that may just be the way things should be because of a bug in the driver or something, so think spending more time on the issue isn't going to make any difference.

it's not as if anything doesn't work at the moment so there really is nothing to fix in any real sense. :D

when you click on mouse 510 to highlight it does the update firmware button highlight, if so you can try updating the firmware and see if that changes anything, you can also click on the check for updates button and see if that also changes anything.

don't forget to install the other 2 programs for use with the mouse, "SetPoint" and "Flow Scroll" from here :- http://support.logit...less-mouse-m510

it's the setpoint software i think does what you were talking about here.

the reason i was trying to get the software to continue to see if it included settings for the mouse, i believe it was suppose to. no big deal i guess since it's working.

Forgot to add, either by your links or on my own, almost all logitech downloads give me heck. Setpoint for example, the one for 64, I d'load it and open it to a prompt to get the one for 64. The flow scroll says i have a newer ver. Use it.

mmmmm newer version? so you have setpoint and flow scroll already installed? if so where'd you get them from?

did you try the smart installer for both?

do the download again, select the full installer options, don't try installing them yet but check the file names, they should be.

flow scroll :- scroll_app_4.00.33.exe

setpoint 64bit :- SetPoint6.65.62_64.exe

the setpoint 32bit is :- SetPoint6.65.62_32.exe

so if you have the 32bit file the only thing i can think is you clicked on the download button before the site had time to change to the correct file, when i select 64bit i get a red circle going round next to where it says download at the top showing it is changing file location and it disappears when it's ready to be downloaded.

i've had the setpoint for years, this started over a month ago when my keyboard just quit. well i was going to uninstall and reinstall  as i had for some time when it got sluggish. i had other things on my mind when i did this and i uninstalled setpoint. there went the mouse too which had been on the blink too. after a late night run to walmart i tried a new logitech combo which did nothing at all. that's when i was told to use shortcuts to navigate which i did and was able to go to logitech and d'load setpoint. that gave me the mouse back but no kb. that was with the old corded ones. my setpoint is the 6.65. the flowscroll didn't designate one for 32 or 64, it just described differences in function so i did the smart first and it prompted me it was for 32 bit. hope you can make it out, i think one has the word smart in it but both said i had a newer version and would stop loading. i have looked but found it nowhere.scroll_zpsr2ybn2t8.jpgscroll64_zpsqbjia4wl.jpg

ok first uninstall both setpoint and flowscroll if they are installed on your pc.

and delete any downloaded files you have at the moment.

then go here :- http://support.logit...less-mouse-m510

and download again, select the full installer option, check the file names, they should be.

flow scroll :- scroll_app_4.00.33.exe

setpoint 64bit :- SetPoint6.65.62_64.exe

then if they match install both again.

i searched for the scroll in full name and it never showed anywhere. my guess is it's bundled into the logishared folder inside the logitech folder. i think that is where the unifying stuff is also because i hadn't heard of the scroll until 2 wks ago and haven't put it on here. just now again it began to run then gave a prompt that it would stop due to the newer version.
