Shape is a thing... not an idea. It is what it is.
Ratio is not a dimension... Dimensions can be used to find a ratio... but they are not the same thing.
A refrigerator can be called a Frigidaire or a Frig. That doesn't mean that it is.
a description that brings to mind something similiar... does not make it a shape.
In America... many people refer to a type of Sweet Potato as a Yam. It doesn't make it a Yam... which does actually exist but is totally unrelated to the sweet potato. The fact is the sweet potato isn't actually a potato. Just because people call it that... doesn't make it so.

People commonly use words incorrectly. Common use doesn't make it any more correct.

Temperature is commonly stated when someone is trying to describe that something is "cold". Ridiculous! Temperature is the measure of heat. Heat is actually something. Cold is not. It is merely an idea. It doesn't exist, therefore it cannot be measured nor definitively described. The closest you can get is an opinion. If it had a definition... it would have to be the absence of heat.

Most people would describe blue as being "darker" than yellow. Doesn't make it so. Yellow and blue are wavelengths of light. "Dark" is an idea. The closest you can get for a definition is the absence of light. If light is absent, it would be "dark" and neither yellow nor blue (or any other color) would exist. There can be many "brightnesses" of yellow and blue so maybe you would try to replace "darker" with "brighter", yet at any given level of light... the brightness of yellow and blue are identical.

Contrary to to what appears to be a common belief in the political realms of the world, be wrong enough times does not magically change fact to agree with opinion.

never said ratio was a dimension, i said that to find out the ratio of one a shape to another you need dimensions such as length, yet you've argued that a shape doesn't have dimensions, so this must be impossible. and if a shape doesn't have dimensions you can't argue one shape is not the same as another because it's dimensions are not scaled to an exact ratio. never said a description(star) was a shape(2 crossed triangles), i said a description can define a shape, 2 different things. and if the description for two shapes was the same then the shape is the same, as in similar, not as in identical. and i'm certainly not going to disagree with you about people using words incorrectly, english being one of my major weaknesses(i have lots), i do it all the time. img tag, thanks. not sure my site uses them, will check next time.
