it says "cannot find the C:\VIEW.txt file. Do you want to create a new one?" In which case the word pad document is blank. So not sure what to do. I guess ill start working on trying to put my other old HD back into my computer. Probably will take me a bit, i have all the wires zipped down with ties and everything and i have to completely unplug everything to get to the HD drive bay. I should of gotten a full ATX tower instead of a mid tower, it makes working with this computer a pain.

don't put anything back in until asked please...
i'm a bit confused here i must admit " I guess ill start working on trying to put my other old HD back into my computer." which hard drive is this your talking about? if it's the old os drive then what drive did you search when you got this message

it says "cannot find the C:\VIEW.txt file. Do you want to create a new one?"
In which case the word pad document is blank. So not sure what to do.

is that the 1tb drive you said you couldn't install win7 on?

no doug told me to run that software from my laptop. In which case all of these hard drives don't pertain to that cause its a different computer. So i really don't know why he wants to me to run an application like that on here, but i did as told anyways. He told me to put back in my original old HD into my computer the one that has the successful windows OS on it. Which i will do. That is the HD i originally thougth had problems. The hd that is on my computer now is the 1tb and a 80 gb but neither of them have windows on it because the computer keeps shutting down.

ok, he wanted you to run that on the pc not your laptop so no probs, take all your hard drives out(just disconnect them from power and sata cables no need to physically remove them) put your old os drive back in and then run the check on it, could you first run a quick memory check in your bios please.

the order of these two tasks is no problem to me. We need both: -- RAM diagnotic -- Event Viewer listing As always, take a breath, and ask questions when necessary. :)

Well this is unheard up. yes my pc does work now in safe mode with my old HD. I really don't see how this is possible when all i did was tansfer my old drive with a new drive. IN any case, here is the log. I am actually on my computer right now, its extremly slow though because its missing all drivers. well i spoke to soon. I guess it shut down just now. Luckly i was able to get that post in with the log. In any case, it seems to be able to stay on for a slightly longer period of time on my old HD.

ok well now i was able to turn it on. But it shut down in a matter of seconds. It seems to be getting worse for some reason. Right now im on the laptop. I am sure glad your professionals in this line of work other wise i would be screwed, have to pay alot of money to get it fixed by the manufacturer.

I know this is off topic but do you guys know a place where i can get a HD repaired. This is different then having data extracted. My last HD died because of over heating issues. This isnt the case, is simply dropped it and it has a mechanical issue now. Kind of like a record skipping. I am sure some people repair HD's if i can find some one that can repair my hard drive, i can then extract the data my self.

ok i believe this error

Log: 'System' Date/Time: 20/04/2011 10:21:33 AM
Type: Critical Category: 63
Event: 41 Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

is usually caused by either cpu or driver problems.

now because of the problems you had trying to install to the 1tb drive i'm leaning towards the cpu, so please can you go into the bios and find where the temperature readings are(under pc health or something similar please) and post what they are in next post.

in answer to your last post no i don't and i also don't think it's as easy as just replacing parts, they need a clean room, no guarantee you'll get the same platters back, etc.

Ok here is the following on my bios health page.

CPU Temp 54C/131F
VRER Temp 28C/82F
System Temp 23C/73F
JCPU Fan speed - 1960 RPM
JPWR Fan speed - N/A
JCHA FAN speed - N/A

Also i believe you are correct. I notice after 5 min, the ratings changed to this and then the pc shut down, even in the bios.

Ratings after 5 min:

CPU Temp 94C/232F
VRER Temp 40C/132F
System Temp 26C/78F (This one only raised by 3, so im assuming its ok)

JCPU Fan speed 2436 RPM

"Then shut down"

There is other information on there like Vcore, memory, .VCC and VSB attributes. I am not sure if you need that but just let me know.

What is VRER temp cause that and the CPU temp seemed to be the highest.

ok it's definitely shutting it's self down to protect itself when it reaches 100c from those temps,

lets check the fan first, leave the side off the case restart pc and see if it's spinning fast if it is then i think you'll need to take the heatsink off and reseat it, if not then check the connection and if it still doesn't spin or spins slowly, you'll need to replace it.(my number 1 choice seeing how you've only just started having these probs)

if reseating the heatsink then ....
this might sound silly but i've known even experienced people do it,
when you first get a heatsink it comes with a clear plastic piece that covers the thermal paste,
sometimes this is hard to see and people don't remove it before installing the heatsink to the cpu, so make sure you did.
clean all the thermal paste from both the heatsink and the cpu.
next place a very small amount of thermal paste in the centre of the cpu and reconnect the heatsink, restart pc and check those temps.

guides on the process here :- http://www.maximumpc...y_thermal_paste
and here:- http://www.arcticsil...nstructions.htm

i recommend a ceramique paste such as artic mx-3.

What is VRER temp cause that and the CPU temp seemed to be the highest.

VREG is the voltage regulator temps, they are fine.

It seems to me that the fan might be spinning faster. I am not really sure though. its hard to tell. From what i can see on the bios, though the RPM of the CPU fan keeps increasing as the temps go up.. I also notice that all my other fans like my overhead 230mm fan and the exhaust fan, as well as my intake fans are all running slow. I have a 3 speed fan also on the back of my case. That is running a the lowest speed. Does this indicate that my computer is just getting cool air cooling throughout my system. Usually when the computer gets hot, the fans speed up but there all running at there lowest speed setting. As for my CPU fan, it seems to be making awkward noises like its reving up of something. hard to explain but it looks like it might be slowing down for a brief second and then speeding up and getting faster Anyways i can hear weird noises coming from the fan every now and then. The temp reached bout 80C in about 6 min. I been monitoring it with my stop watch. Ok yeah, its obvious now,. The fan is speeding up,. Before when i was looking at the fan, it can barely make out the blades spinning. Now its spinning so fast it just looks like a blur if that makes sense. Also its at 94C right now. Still hasn't shut down. Ok there, it shut down at around 98C. I guess ill open up the heat sink, take a look at the CPU and see if its seeted probably. I always had a problem with seeting a cpu, there very delicate and if not handled with proper care you can easily bend the prongs. The way i seeted it before was i just let the gravity take it and i dropped it in the slot. I did not apply any pressure what so ever. Anyways it seems strange that now of all times that it decided to act up like this. If i seeted the CPU wrong, it would of acted up along time ago. In any case, ill take a look at it.
