i didn't understand a word you said....that is how stupid i am.... that whole clipboard thing is HUH? i don't get it..... i am missing huge chunks in the process of understanding computer-eze, computer terminology, functions.... i can't deal with computers i just can't. and i can't find my toolbar on top that had view, file, a slew of other options i often need. I am so sick of things happening and i have no idea how they happened. i have so had it. i HATE computers i did click on the two options ....I tried to get to go to desktop and to file...NOTHING happened.... I don't know why see, i get this frustrated and then i just start crying...old women should be exempt from having to use computers.... there should be designated users, just like alcoholics need designated drivers??? old stupid women should be assigned a designated user, who will come over every day and help me with this stupid thing.

You're doing fine Candice. Let's get your tool bars back for you (hopefully). At the top of your screen, there is probably a dark gray band across the top that probably has a has a left and right arrow on the left end and probably a window with the address to this page in the middle? If this is what you have, then move your little mouse arrow onto a part of that dark gray band... not inside the address window... and right click. A drop box should open that lists your available tool bars. Just click to put a checkmark in from of the ones you want to open. Favorites is probably the top one.

Candice,

I'm glad that worked.

Now let's get you past the whole clipboard thing.

I want you to copy/paste this information in a reply utilizing the clipboard

Put your cursor right in front of the blue N in Now and click your mouse. Then move your mouse arrow just after the blue d in clipboard. Hold the shift key and click your mouse. Those two lines of information should become highlighted. Put your mouse over any of the highlighted text and right-click your mouse. A drop menu will open and I want you to select copy. The highlighted text is now copied to your clipboard.

Now click on the Add Reply button at the bottom of the page to open a reply window. Rijght-lick in the window and select place... Just like magic the text should appear... pasted from the clipboard.

Add anything else you want to say to me and post it back to me.

That is exactly what you should have gotten.

Nothing magical. It just copies whatever is highlighted so that you can paste it. Sometimes programs will have a button that says something like Copy to clipboard. When you click on that button, it will copy the information to the clipboard without you having to do the whole "highlight - right click - copy" stuff.

Some program will even have a button called something like Paste from clipboard or maybe even Copy from clipboard that just "saves" you from right clicking and selecting paste. No big thing.

Good luck at your doctors appointments tomorrow.

The bad news is... when you get the chance... I'd like you to run the Eset online scan again. If the whole clipboard thing still stresses you out... just write down where the files are and type the information for me.

See you later.

oh....... i always knew how to copy and paste..... only took me two years to figure it out, lol..... but i never knew that when you copy, that momentary pretend place that holds what you copied is called a clipboard...... lol...i always envisioned it trapped inside the mouse , ain't that a hoot. sweetie, there was no log....nothing..... i think i explained a few posts past, when the est report said i had three infections and i had the option to delete them entirely, I did. so there was nothing to show on a log report.

I didn't catch that you deleted them. Ok.. I'd like you to run DDS again (that is the program you ran clear back at the beginning of this thread) and post both logs. Also... please tell me any symptoms you still have.... pop ups, funny icons on your desktop, whatever isn't "normal". And, if you feel like it, I'd like to know how your doctors appointments went.

DDS doesn't "find" infections. It just produces two logs. There should be an icon on your desktop that is called DDS. Right click on it and select "run as administrator".

there are no dds logs on my desktop..... I THOUGHT you said to do that eset again??? now why are we back to dds???? I rant the eset again...took an hour and a half....the box came up empty..... go back a few posts...I told you NOTHING happened that you explained would happen.... because I had vista, i had to right click on the IE icon in the start menu..... then I clicked on RUN as administrator.... then a new IE box pops up.... so what? I take the NEW box that just popped up because I said I wanted to connect via IE, as the administrator, i go to what the tech, i go back to my thread, i hit the eset..... from that point on....NOTHING happened that you said would happen...nothing about active X's I screwed up somewhere along the way...but those infections are GONE...they were under quarantine and I deleted them....I must have done something wrong. second scan..... what can it find??? everything is gone....i just got a box and there was nothing to click on anywhere. I don't have any dds logs on the desktop
