Thanks for the suggestion. Went to the link you provided and i noticed under SR Service ' System restore monitoring was disabled on all drives ' Is this problem and how do i correct ?

I think you stopped reading the article just previous to the instructions that include enabling SR. Use that link and continue reading. I believe your question will be answered.

Sorry should have said i have enabled the SR ! but still cannot find system restore on my computer

Check back to where you enabled SR and see if there is an APPLY button. If so, enable SR again and then click on the APPLY button.
Then check to see if SR can be found on any user of this PC.
