Hiya Piatan

I'm digging into the 'Add Reply' issue and would like to know the name of the user in question.

It would also help to know the name of a user that you can successfully reply to.

Also, I want to be sure I understand the symptom:

...the wheels just keep on spinning and never seem to stop, when attempting to post in the Hijack This forum.

So...once you have created the reply, then you press 'Add Reply' or 'Preview Post', and the browser goes busy but the message is never sent, or previewed back to you. And, no time out. Correct?

Hopefully we'll have an answer for you on Wednesday.

Thanks
Dave

Sorry, I had to wait for my parents to get home and pick me up so I could reach the keyboard. :P @ Dave, admins will see four skins. The ones with an asterisks next to them are no longer supported. All other members will only see two skins, and they should both work. The RSS button does not currently appear on the TomCoyote skin, but we should be able to get that resolved. @ Micah, I'll change the default action for moving posts on the IPB skin to not leaving a link. Also, you have the same errors using IE and FF on different systems. Very odd. @ piatan, that is a strange error. Especially, that it would only happen in one forum. I'll repair the database, and review the settings for that forum. P.S. The emoticons appearing at the end of the post instead of where the cursor is placed is a known bug when using IE6. I expect a fix soon.

Not a "board problem", but I can "see" and have access to:

Private Board Suggestions
This is for board suggestions that are not viewable by the public
- This is viewable by all Admins, Supermods and Mods

And I don't belong to any of those three groups.

Don't know if I'm supposed to be able to access that board or not....

Don't forget your nap, Blair. ;)

I asked dgosling about this in chat earlier and she opened that up to us now. :)

I love that new "quick edit" feature. Much faster for those of us stuck on dial-up. :P

Fixed some little bugs in the default TomCoyote skin. Names in the post view are now clickable, the find first post orange square was missing from the topic view, and there was a little problem with the quick reply. The RSS fix should be done soon.

@micah as a Slyware Warrior you have had moderator priviledges since last year when Tom expanded the role of a Slyware Warrior. The post titled "Mod Controls for Slyware Warriors" describes your mod functions. I also gave all SW's access to the "Private Board Suggestions" because all SW's should have an area for posting suggestions to the Admin and Supermods.

@Piatan unfortunately I was unable to help you, I think Blair has now fixed the problem, as it is beyond my knowledge of the admin controls at this time.

Thanks to all, for your responses on this issue. So far as I can tell, everything is sorted out now and is working fine. Sorry it took me a while to get back here. Personal issues took over for a bit. :weee:

Not sure what is going on here.
Start at post #9.
I posted a can fix, then added a reply to the #9 post, but it added the 2 together instead of seperate post.
Was this because I was the one replying to the post and it wouldn't add a new post? Which would have been #10?

Testing a back to back post with Add Reply.

As you can see, this should be a new post.

LD, The same thing happened to me, but in my case it didn't matter. I made a post, and immeadiately (almost) realize I had missed something. I clicked "Add reply", but the two were merged. My guess is that there is some sort of "timer" active. If you make 2 posts within this time frame, they get merged. Of course, that's just speculation on my part. :)

Could be the reason. I know the 30 second Flow Control is active.

That is a feature of the new forum software. We can control the length of time, or even disable it.

The Flood Control doesn't bother me that much, but :

I vote for disable it. :P

One of the people I was trying to help had to split up things into three seperate posts in order to get the Ewido log to fit. I did receive three seperate e-mail notifications which I could look through to see what was found. When looking at the topic, all three posts had been merged together which made the post too large to fit and most of the Ewido log ended up missing. :(

With the growing use of tools like Ewido and MWAV, and the very long logs that are created by these, it would be a good idea to diable the 'merged reply' feature, IMO. We also need to occasionally request a set of HJT logs, one for each username on a system, and this can lead to very long posts as well. Dave

I've had that Flood Control active on my post for a long time, so I don't think that's the issue. It has to do with the upgrade we just had.
