Right from what little I can find on this, your box has no Wi-Fi, BUT, you can connect a router to it and gain Wi-Fi, the following is about the only info I can find on the Moto site:-

Connecting a Router to a Motorola Modem
Published 08/09/2011 09:27 AM | Updated 11/04/2011 04:18 PM
How I do connect a router to my Motorola modem?

When using a router with a Motorola modem, the WAN port of the router must connect to the Ethernet port of the modem. Depending on the router manufacturer, the WAN port may have a different name, such as Internet port. The remainder of the network devices (e.g. computer, printer, smartphone) will need to connect to the router.

NOTE 1: If the modem has a USB port, that USB port cannot be used with this setup.

NOTE 2: For information on setting up the router, please contact the router manufacturer.

But it may be worth a call to your ISP, as they may have a newer box that comes with Wi-Fi, here the ISP's often offer customers deals on such things, you may get lucky, can't hurt to ask, it may be cheaper than buying a router, but in simple terms if you get a router, you plug the router into the modem, then the computer into the router, then all being well, you just enter the routers wireless code into your wireless device, and you should get straight online, but my biggest fear for you was just how you would connect to the net with these.

As to the actual devices, I have no experience with them, so can't say much, but if you get the 2 devices specification pages up side by side, compare each point and see what shows up, as to routers, stick with the main names, I don't think theres much between them, and a quick search of reviews of the prospective router should quickly highlight any concerns, but with terry's great info you should be fine, hope this helps a bit.

just make sure the google nexus 7 is the 16GB version, if your not sure just post the links to the items so we can check them for you.

no idea what's the best router for you but this belkin E9K6000 router from newegg looks like a decent one :- http://www.newegg.co...N82E16833314082

not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive either.

Come on new egg $80 I got it from Walmart for $66 bring that price down

so you can look around and get it cheaper elsewhere too.

forgot to say asus is googles partner and the ones who make the nexus 7 for google, so they are both the same device whether they are called just a google nexus 7 or an asus google nexus 7 tablet.

I am kind of confused about what you are saying 8210 guy. With the router that expensive, this "toy" of mine is getting kind of expensive. Any other routers that are good. I think my daughter had a Linskeys once. I really want this nexus, but am worried about the expense.

I'm super cheap (or maybe just always broke), but I've found that I can usually get a linksys or netgear N router for $25 to $35 on Craigslist. They'll probably be used... but I don't care. :P

Wi-Fi is a radio signal. What that advert is telling you is that the tablet has a Wi-Fi "receiver" in it. You still need a "transmitter" to send the signal to it. That is what the Wi-Fi router provides. (Truthfully, each end is a transmitter and a receiver.... but I was trying to simplify my explanation)

Sorry didn't mean to confuse, I just wanted to make sure you didn't get something you don't need, or that won't work, I'm not used to the boxes you have there, so not quite sure how your set up.

But in the simplest terms, you need a net connection to get online, this is currently provided via your box, to get online with anything it must go through that box, or use a compatible device to replace that includes a wireless option, then you connect to that via Wi-Fi, as terry said previous, Wi-Fi is simply a wireless connection, it replaces the need for an Ethernet cable, meaning a far more flexible connection anywhere in the house (structures not interfering with the signal anyway), rather than running cables everywhere.

As to cost, yeah it can get very expensive very quickly lol, but I suggested asking your service provider to see if they had a wireless option for sale, as they may offer you a discounted rate, I don't know how it works over there, but that's what happens here, I hope that clarifies it for you.

I takes very little to confuse me. I think between the internet people and the sales people I will be able to get the right thing. I was reading reviews on amazon and it sounds complicated getting info on it - is it complicated?

Jelly Bean in the version of the operating system (the most current one). It is the name of Android 4.1 (and also the upgrade - 4.2). The prior versions were Ice Cream Sandwich, Honeycomb, Gingerbread, Froyo, Eclair, Donut, and Cupcake.

wi-fi just means it can connect to other devices wireless.

now you DO need another device for it to connect to before you will be able to get onto the internet with it.
and that's where the router comes in
it's the router it will connect to wireless so you can get onto the internet.
both devices can be called wi-fi devices. the router and the nexus because they can use a wireless signal to talk to each other.

no you don't really need a router, but you will definitely need another device connected to the internet for the nexus to talk to wireless if you want to access things like facebook and emails.

you can turn your pc into this other device by adding a wi-fi dongle to it, this will be cheaper but not as easy to setup and maybe not as strong/reliable a wireless signal/connection.

the pc would connect to the internet and then pass the signal to the nexus by the wireless dongle, what you'll actually be doing if you go this route is turning your pc into the router.

here's an example of a wireless n dongle to show you what i'm talking about. :- http://www.newegg.co...N82E16833704045

sorry i can't just say buy the nexus and that's it you'll be able to get onto the internet, but the same thing applies with all the devices we've talked about, they all need a router or pc to pass them the signals wireless first.

wow i missed a lot of posts writing this.

yes the old price of the 16GB version is now the price for the 32GB device. :- $249
and the new price of the 16GB version is now the old price the 8GB version(which they don't make any more) went for.. :- $199

So if I got the Google nexus 7 I would get the jelly bean. That's good, I like jelly beans. Now why in the heck would they name pronounced technology such goofy names.

you always find this in the computer industry, they find a naming theme for their products and then find different names in the theme for each new version of the product. the android os theme just happened to be sweets. :D

So you plug your things into the router, not the other way around. I thought you plugged things into the modem, that is where I was confused, because I had no blank spaces.
