Getting it sorted out properly is more important. You need some time after work so do this in your own time - I'll still be here, even if it means a bit of time difference . :)

I fear the OTL has frozen. Been running for thirty minutes. Says "killing procesesses. DO NOT INTERUPT...." So i'm trying to be patient. I'm sending this from a netbook.

Is it safe to close it and try again? I did the router reset with no problems. I didn't have to do a thing for security or DNS. After about five minutes my computer reconnected to the internet.

If your computer is now connecting to the Internet,, leave the OTL fix for now and just try running the Eset scan. Let me know how things are after that.

Sorry, forget the Eset scan for the moment. Can you now connect to the Internet with the infected PC?

Yes but cannot connect to g-mail. By some miracle two of our other computers are connecting to g-mail today. Also, leaving the house and connecting so another network seems to Unhijack them lol.

Excellent!!

Let’s do this a bit at a time.

Uninstall the following program, if present:

Vongo

To remove it:
  • click on Start, Settings, Control Panel
  • double-click Add or Remove Programs (it may take time for the list to appear, so be patient)
  • scroll down the list and look for Vongo:
  • ifit is present, click on it and then on Remove.

=============================================

Run OTL
  • double click on the icon to run it.
  • copy/paste ALL the following text written inside the code box into the Custom Scans/Fixes box located at the bottom of OTL

    :Services

    :OTL
FF - prefs.js..browser.search.defaultenginename: "iMesh Web Search"
FF - prefs.js..browser.search.order.1: "iMesh Web Search"

    :Files
    ipconfig /release /c
    ipconfig /renew /c
    ipconfig /flushdns /c

    Commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [resethosts]
    [Reboot]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
  • Then post a new OTL log (don't check the boxes beside LOP Check or Purity this time)

The uninstall of Vongo was a success. My computer doesn't like OTL. LOL think it's stuck. Last time it would not close so I had to hit the power button. I will wait as long as you tell me before I give up on it

At least you can connect to the Internet so progress has been made.

I asked for a check before that we didn't do so lets try and run it now with a basic OTL scan.

Run OTL
  • open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button (don't check the boxes beside LOP Check or Purity this time)
  • post the OTL.txt log it produces in your next reply.
===================================================

Run aswMBR
  • download aswMBR.exe to your desktop.
  • double click the aswMBR.exe to run it
  • if asked, accept the AVAST virus definition download
  • click the "Scan" button to start scan
  • on completion of the scan click Save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply
Logs to include with next post:

OTL.txt
aswMBR log

If for some strange reason OTL won't run, please run the aswMBR scan and post the log

Thanks

Satchfan
