Sorry Tom..... Hmmm.... Isn't everything I'm doing on my "desktop"....isn't that what you call this whole machine? A desktop computer? I opened the folder and right got the option to "copy link address"....but I don't know what I am picking up, and where I am supposed to put it. See, this is my main trouble....it's the whole Elephant parable thing, right? I can only see this little patch of grey, so I don't know that it is an elephant...I can't see the whole picture. And I learn in Pictures....I visualize the whole thing first and then I know how to get there......I learn by being shown, rather then being told......Makes it difficult for both of us, I understand. Hmmm.....When I open the show in folder thing in downloads, a window opens up...and it does say that combofix thing is "selected" ...... Here, have a wee dram of Scotch.

Ok... you don't want Copy link address, you want to Copy.

Your desktop is the screen that comes up when you startup your computer... before you open any programs.

Even though the ComboFix file is highlighted when you "show all downloads", you won't be able to copy it from there. You must click on Show in Folder right below it. Then you will be able to right click the file and select Copy.

If you've closed all of your windows.. you should be looking at your desktop (your screen saver should "pop up" after a period of non-use). Right click anywhere in the blank part of that screen (not on an existing icon) and select paste.

Geez.... Ok...this is what I see when I do that: A white box opens with these options: View ---> Sort by ----> Refresh Paste Paste Shorcut New----> Personalize ___________________ But the Paste and Paste shortcut are very faint grey, and when I click on either, nothing happens.

Ok... let's just do things a little different. Can you get back to the Downloads folder? If so... Double-click on the Combofix file and run it from there (continuing on with previous instructions.

*whew* Ok....so I ran the combo fix...now I have a box here that speaks of DIsclaimer of Warranty on Software.....And the machine made beeping noise.......It goes on about the "The following websites are not in any way affiliated to Combofix...blah bah....and then has the balls to state: "If you have purchased anything from them, I suggest you instruct your financiers to cancel the transaction". First time this machine has referred to itself as "I".....creepy....

Also, when I go to the "home screen" where all the little pics are of the stuff I have, I see that the AVG thing is still there, and a bunch of the pictures have that little windows defender shield over them...whatever that means. And now there are a whole whack of things missing from the bottom bar thing too. I'm beside myself.

Baruga,

No need to panic. You're going to be fine.

Click on the start button in the lower left of your screen and then select Computer.

Double click on your C: drive and look for ComboFix.txt . Double click on it and the log should open in notepad. Copy and paste it here please.

Ok, so I have calmed down now. I looked all over, and I can not find the "log" created by the combofix thing. Your instructions state that I should not "re-run" combofix, until I get further instructions.

Please look on your C: drive for a folder called Qoobox. Open it and see if there is a Combofix.txt file in there.

What is a C drive? And what buttons should I push to get to it?
