Select the text on the General tab then press Ctrl+C to copy it. Then you can paste it here. At least that's how it works for me with Windows 7 which is pretty much the same as Vista.

Chkdsk has done some housekeeping. The log file is fine and there are no problems there that I can see. Are you still having freezing problems now with IE? Cheers, Lee

to Lee, after the drive check, if you agree, i'd be interested in seeing exactly what specs the laptop has and also maybe seeing a pitstop test, i'm beginning to think it's nothing more than the processor/memory struggling with the load it's under(background programs) or even just a slow internet connection. to pulsebabe when it freezes, does it just not respond for a second/few seconds then works again?? or do you need to log out and back in or kill it's process another way before restarting it to get things working again?? sometimes even the fastest pc's just hang for a few seconds(so you think it's frozen but it's not really) if there's a lot going on in the background, or if the site your visiting is overloaded/busy or has problems.

it freezes completely and wont close or reload meaning i have to switch off and reboot. sometimes it will let me open a new ie window and continue to work other times the new window will freeze too. its not just the one site, if i have 2/3 tabs open the whole lot freezes.

Thanks Terry 1966,
Yes, I think an Overdrive test might be a good idea as a next step.

Pulsebaby,
Could you please go to this site and run their test: http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/

PC Pitstop's 'OVERDRIVE'

Fast, Comprehensive, and Free
In just a few minutes OverDrive creates an extensive report of your PC's performance, security, software, drivers, and more.

1. Note: Vista or W7 users with UAC must first Right-click IE - Select "Run as Administrator"

2. Register and create a password

3. Accept the ActiveX component to allow your machine to run the Full Tests

Registering and accepting the ActiveX are both SAFE and FREE.

Full Test is the first item in the left hand column of that page.

Caution: During the testing of Video Adapter, a variety of patterns, shapes, colors and text are “flashed” onto the users monitor screen. In the many thousands of daily uses of the PCPitstop Full Tests over several years, two individuals who suffer epilepsy experienced discomfort and temporary dizziness when viewing the flashing patterns.
If you know that you are susceptible to photo driven seizure, please look away from your screen during the Video Adapter testing sequence.

Note: The PCPitstop Full Tests Results is a free service, but is supported by various paid product advertisements for utilities that are not necessarily supported by WTT.

Could you also let us know the model number of your Laptop and when it was purchased. We will then have a much clearer understanding of what we are working with.

Cheers,
Lee

PS Edit:
Could you please copy and post the OverDrive test results here. thanks.

pulsebabe i think you just need to click on the link right at the bottom of that page and run overdrive anonymously, i can't test with my pc because it's linux os. then when it's finished just copy the url out of the browser and post it in next reply. nice laptop by the way.
