Check in the device manager for any conflicts, click on Start - Control Panel - System (double click) then click on the hardware tab, then click device manager, then take note if anything is out of place, if it is install the drivers for that item, if no conflict is shown then expand the network entry's and right click on the LAN and select uninstall, reboot and let the system auto install it (assuming the drivers are already on the system), if it still wants the drivers put the disk back into the drive (assuming you took it out) and tell the system to search the disk for what it needs, hopefully this should resolve this issue.

It seems that I "accidently" was able to resolve my connection issue, but with that comes several issues. Why not!!??!! :pullhair:

Through trial and error, I was able to connect to the net, but it is v - e- r- r- r-y s l o w.

For a IE window to load, takes anywhere from 30 min to never. Sometimes hitting refresh will pop it in. Some sites NEVER load, and end up showing

Have you been able to check the PSU yet ? I ask as a failing PSU can throw some pretty weird stuff at you, and with the blown capacitors on the other board it would be a good move to check this if you possibly can. The slowness in the connection may possibly be down to whatever you did to get it working, I am hesitant to suggest uninstalling the LAN given the fun you've just had with it, but my hope is that by uninstalling it, then rebooting and let the system auto install it that it will line everything up correctly again, do you fancy giving that a go ?

Well I ended up putting in the original PSU that I had 5 yrs ago before I installed the current [bad?] one. Thermaltake 300 watt. No significant improvement. Still have S-L-O-W LOADING pages/sites. I really don't know if the one I took out was bad or not. So is it some hardware conflict?

There are so many issues with this, the goal posts keep moving each time we get one step it takes two steps back, now as Ive mentioned when a PSU goes bad it can take other parts with it, so "IF" that PSU was behind the old board dying, it may of damaged the ram or even CPU, TBH I think we need to try and rule out each of the components in turn and see if they show any problems.
So get and run HD Tune 2.55 (Thanks to Doug for the link) to test the new hard drive, this one works on all drives so will be fine, personally I've always used the makers one, that will check the drive, next try running Windows Memory Diagnostic to check the ram, do you have another video card to swap in for testing purposes ?
And are the parts compatible with the working system ? what I am thinking is if you can try each of the troubled components in the working system to see if they behave we can hopefully prove they are all good, or find one that is playing up, see if any of this shows anything up.

The links work for me ? Well if you can't load the pages try hitting refresh a couple of times, if that still doesn't work then search the 2 names in Google, m$ has the Memory tool and a few places has the drive tester, the link above is to MajorGeeks, but there will be numerous places to get it, see if that helps.

I successfully sent the exe's via webmail. The HD tool is running now. Initially when I started a scan [whichever the first part as displayed in the program] it aborted after 1.5 minutes! So I am running the [ERROR CHECK] part of the progran and upon starting the scan, 2 bad sectors were detected! I will post the results of both programs when finished.

SCANS i'm dealing with the MS tool. It requires a floppy drive, and the PC doesn't have one, The second option was a CD, and I'm not sure it will cooperate. But I will send what results I am able to get. What do you think is the cause of the bad sectors on the full scan, but not showing on the quick scan? And the aborted scan makes me think my HD is damaged, but I don't know if it was purchased that way [ebay], or if it occured since.
