I should just add on further reflection that your current PSU might already be using such an adapter. If so no need for a new one.

3.25" Wide X 1 5/8" Tall X 9" Deep power supply is not using adapter, but wouldn't bother me to have to.

Well looks like it will fit but you will also need the adapter.

the case is only 4" wide so it might be a really tight fit

Theirs: Width: 100mm(3.9") Length: 245mm(9.65") Height: 40.5mm(1.6") Yours: Width: 3.25" Length: 9" Height: 1 5/8" ... Yes you are correct. Sorry I overlooked that. Will continue to search. I had assumed that a factor such as U1 would be standard but apparently not.

I would assume they only refer to their own products.

But I am also assuming a lot in this thread.

I am still searching as many other people have asked this question:

Just an update on the continuing search on my end (nothing really new):

In many threads the factor is referred to as Flex ATX (U1) as seen here @ 250 Watts:

Dimension GUB: 150mm (5.9") x 81.5mm (3.2") x 40.5mm (1.6")

Or model GBA: 175mm (6.8") x 81.5mm (3.2") x 40.5mm (1.6")

But again we want 350<400 Watts. Plus the above are @ 3" & 2" less in length than your current model although width and height match and less length should not matter here:

| 9" | 3.25" | 1.6" | ---> (Your model at 9" is basically 225mm > 230mm. 225mm appears to be a common length: 8.8".)

Google on Flex PSUs:

http://www.google.co...;q=flex atx psu

Often referred to as rack server PSUs as well.

This 400 watt matches your height and length but it is too wide again at 100mm rather than the 81.5mm we need.

Back to the Google on Slimline PSU in general we find many forums including HP forums that have addressed this issue:

http://www.google.co...h...mp;aq=f&oq=

Many links in said forums that I will continue to trace as time permits.

Hope this helps. :)

These would fit @ 250 watts:

http://www.power-on....xatx250plb.html

http://www.buy.com/r...amp;dcaid=17864

@ 270 watts:

http://www.censuspc....ck-pr-5902.html

Sparkle has higher wattages (350 > 500) but the dimension on width jumps from 81mm to 100mm. Plus they are "Out of stock".

http://www.censuspc....a...on=0&page=3

@ 300 watts:

http://www.censuspc....-0-pr-6998.html

Looks like it would fit but the manufacturer appears to have confused his L/W/H.

Anyway this sight has more choices than I've found to date:

http://www.censuspc....upply-c-30.html

Found the link from this thread:

http://forums.cnet.c...threadID=242304

That's all for now.

I think this one looks pretty promising and for $42.76 sounds even better. I would just need to get the adapter.

No problem. Sometimes the forum "bugs out". Happens to us all at times. I still am searching. That one looks good but I would like to find a 350 watt. That would be ideal. Will report back later tonight.

Some say this is the ultimate thread regarding upgrading a HP slimline. Over 100 pages of posts and no I did not read it all.

You will note your choice of PSU is noted and nothing above 300 watts is mentioned. Most of the basics happily are found on the first page.

You will also note a number of compatible graphics cards at varying levels of wattages.

Anyway a lot of data and hands on experience with your issues:
