Hi again,

Everest does detect the SPD, but the Home Edition (free version) was discontinued some time ago, thus it doesn't properly support the newest components out.

Perhaps it may pay to uninstall the Home Edition and download the full version (Everest Ultimate Edition), which is available as a trial.

Sometimes I find that Everest (or other software programs) are incorrect in their reportings, so it's important to keep this in mind. Other times, if I know what I'm looking for but can't seem to find it, or Everest reports "unknown", clicking around in other areas may reveal the information. For example, under the Motherboard heading there are many sub-headings - all report information that "crosses over" at times.

After all this, how is the system running? Are you happy with the performance? The BIOS is reporting the correct memory frequency, so I wouldn't be too bothered if you can't find it elsewhere. Windows doesn't change that.

Hi Troy, I think your right on the mark with what you said: "after all this". After following your advice and putting Vista 64 back on the machine, flashing the mobo bios and installing the latest ATI catalyst CCC I havnt had any problems to complain about. Although it would be nice if Vista recognised my CPU, i guess when Intel release a later version of their "Processor detection software" that my cpu will be supported. Thankyou so much for all your help and input Troy. Building my first machine has been an exciting experience, frustrating at times but mostly enjoyable. After building my own machine, i will never buy a retail model (eg-HP, Acer) EVER again! With parts in my machine it should be able to cruise along for atleast a little while without needing an upgrade. Anyway thanks for all your help Troy.

Well I'm glad to hear it.

It is a bit confusing why the processor is not being recognised correctly within Windows, and further research has not revealed any similar problems yet.

Please confirm you have downloaded the Intel Processor Identification Utility from here.

Other than that, like I said, if you're getting great performance from it, then I guess you can't really complain.

Cheers, and let me know if you have any further questions.
