Regarding what is a missed packet...
(Taken from compnetworking)
A packet is one unit of binary data capable of being routed through a computer network. To improve communication performance and reliability, each message sent between two network devices is often subdivided into packets by the underlying hardware and software.
More informaiton available here-> http://compnetworkin...ldef_packet.htm
The only thing that is flagged in the PC Pitstop test is to increase your browser cache.
Start Internet Explorer
Select Tools | Internet Options | General
Under Temporary Internet Files click the Settings button.
In the box for the amount of disk space to use, enter a value between 10 and 100 megabytes.
Click OK to accept the changes.
I notice that the upload test was not tested, however on a dial up connection I would not worry about this as I do not think you will be uploading terabytes of files!
As to IE7 - In this case you may be just as wise to listen to doug's quote - As to IE 7.0 -- Who needs it?!
If you reverted back to IE6 then you could set the updates to the Notify but do not download them , option, then (if my memory serves me right) you will get an option about the download/installation of them - choose custom, take the check out of any for IE7 then tell it not to ask you again.
Regarding the copy and paste problem - Thres not too much that I can find out form this either myself, Do you have the original instalation disk for Microsoft. If so I would be tempted to unsintall office then re-install again

I do remember the distress that you had to deal with upon discovering that your machine's XP operating system was not authentic. Looks like a similar situation with Microsoft Office.
Unfortunately, Office can be even more expensive than XP.
You might want to consider the open-source applications known as Open Office.
They are free to download and use. They are legal. They are compatible and "interact" well with MS Office applications pretty well. For instance, Open Office can create and display files nearly identical to Excell, Word, Access and PowerPoint.

You are quite well protected with your Panda Product. In addition, your excellent Spybot Search & Destroy, and Ad-aware SE provide competent manual scanning antispyware.
I do "not" believe that your "security" is "improved with the addition of your AOL content and package.
If you are able to uninstall or disable the cluster of AOL's Security add-ons, you'll probably have better internet performance.
Uninstall AOL Safety and Security Center or One of Its Components
The AOL Safety and Security Center software is a suite of programs designed to address all of your security needs. The AOL Safety and Security Center software suite includes the following software components:
AOL® Virus Protection
AOL® Firewall
AOL® Spyware Protection
To remove AOL Firewall (or AOL® Privacy Wall™), AOL Spyware Protection, AOL Virus Protection, or the entire AOL Safety and Security Center Suite using Windows® XP:
1. Click the Start button, then click Control Panel.
2. Click the Add or Remove Programs icon.
3. Click AOL Uninstaller once to select it, then click the Change/Remove button.
Using Windows Security Center - Re-enable your Windows XP Firewall
Once you have connected to the internet via AOL connectivity, you should be able to minimize your AOL portal window, open another browser, for instance Internet Explorer or Firefox.
Try the downloads for Open Office using Internet Explorer.
------------------------
An item that we have not addressed, is your JAVA Runtime Environment, which is terribly out of date.
Go here to download the Offline installation:
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (build 1.6.0-b105)
The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.
The item you need: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (build 1.6.0-b105)
is about half way down that page,
Download and save the Offline Installation for Windows.
Once you have that item downloaded and saved, don't install it yet.
Instead, go to your Control Panel - Add/Remove
Uninstall all items related to having the word JAVA in its name (all of them)
Then navigate to: C:\Program Files\(any item and folder with the name JAVA in it)
DELETE any item and Folder related to JAVA
Next:
You can now make a fresh installation of the updated JAVA RunTime Environment
(this is an important thing to do, since the older versions that you have on your machine have vulnerablilities that put your machine at risk) The new version patches those vulnerabilities.
