Those files deleted successfully, but I still got about 20 Worm/vb.dw warnings upon restarting. My computer is also going a little slow. Is this normal?

Please follow this WGA troubleshooting procedure:

. Download and install the WGA Diagnostic Tool:

. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click
on the "Validation" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard".

I am afraid that you may need to replace files etc. and you need the Windows disks. If you do not have genuine Windows, I may not be able to help you.

Ok, the disc he was thinking of is an "Application and Driver Recovery DVD". I'm afraid this is all I have, although I will keep looking and try to contact the company. Also, my computer is running slowly again

Application and Driver Recovery CD--that does not sound like the Windows XP disk. We need to be able to repair files, etc.

For instance to do the scannow-- I do not think the CD you have will work. I may be wrong but I think the Applications is different from the Windows XP cd.

start > Run > copy and paste in:
sfc /scannow
Click 'OK'
You will need your XP/2000/ME disk. If you don't have it and instead only have a recovery CD, there is a work around. View the following link for a tutorial:

sfc - system file checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

If you want to see what was replaced, right click My Computer > manage, expand event viewer > system.

Good News! It turns out that there was an XP disc with my computer. Found it in the back of my filing cabinet. I ran the sfc/scannow function, but I don't really know what all to make of it. What should I be looking for? p.s. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I was trying any workaround I could think of, to no avail. But as soon as I found the disc, sfc ran just fine.
