Thanks Larry, thats quite a list, these dirt bags have been busy.

Do I need a new link to the download or will the old one work with all the updates?

Same link

Hi there, I've read a fair bit on here about this, but just looking for a final bit of advice please. I had a few issues on my laptop (windows XP prof), but seem to have found the bad guys and stopped the fake pop up security alerts now. I used SmitfraudFix after reading about it here, I have also used SUPERAndtiSpy and Avast to remove viruses. After successfully following the comments on this forum with regard to SmitfraudFix, i have a couple of final questions: 1. I have a folder on the desktop that is called SmitfraudFix which contains a lot of .exe files (eg: process.exe; dumphive.exe; VACFix.exe etc) - are these part of the detection program? 2. Now that it has done its job, can I or should I remove this file and delete the contents along with the main SmitfraudFix program, or is it worth keeping it? Any help or comments, much appreciated. David

Hi there.

That folder and those files are indeed part of SmitfraudFix. If you think you are finished you can go ahead and delete that folder. The program is updated quite often so if you run into these problems again it would be better that download the latest version rather than using the version you currently have, as things will have changed.

However, if you think there may still be remnants or anything left of your infection(s), I would recommend that you leave the folder as it is and go ahead and post a topic in our Malware Removal forum. Here are instructions for doing so:
http://forums.whatth...ers_t34502.html

You would then receive advice from one of our Malware Team members on removing any remaining traces of the infection and you could delete the folder once this is complete.

The choice is entirely yours.

Hope that helps.
