Heres is the error message I get when startying in normal mode....."application failed to initiate properly(0xc0000022) click ok to terminate.

Does it give you a file / program name?

Lets try this:

Click start> run. and Copy/paste this command below and hit enter a box should come up select repair

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

Let me know if that worked

I dont get the explorer.exe message in safe mode, I can everything is usable in safe mode like theres nothing wrong. Im goin to try asnd see if I get an error meessage with the one you just told me to do in safe mode, brb.

Lets look at what's in the startup. click Start> Run> type in Msconfig tap enter key. look in the Startup. List everything there and point out which ones have a check next to it.

While I'm looking at those files, try this:

From the Start menu, select Search, select All Files and Folders.
Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option.
Ensure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked.
In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf
In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.
Click the Search button.
In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file located in Windows\Inf folder.
Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on the context menu.
Reboot the computer when the file copy process is complete.

ok this is what it said The file IEXPLORE.EXE on windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click ok.

I have a reinstallation disc for XP with service pack 1a. But here is the major problem......for some reason I cant open my cd rom drive. It decided not to work a few days ago for no apparent reason.

1. If you download and double click on this small app, it will restore all the default search fuctions for IE.
