You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.gee.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, Hijack This will launch. Close Hijack This, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new Hijack This log.

Mr Tate I am having problems withthe Fixwareout I have downloaded it ,run it following the the instructions and got to the "finish" I then got a screen which asked me to continue at my own risk by pressing key I did this and then there are messages relating to bfu.zip end-of-central-directory not found and can't find bfu.zip then more lines saying attempting download from alternate URL Then bfu:zip cannot create destination file because it is being used by another process There are more details in the lines below about extracting the zip file but they are double dutch to me but the bottom line is I'm stuck yet again Grateful for your help

A little more information to add When I have retraced my steps it looks like I have saved the Fixwareout in two different folders by mistake - could that have caused the problem? I have been trying to delete the files that were in the programme files to start the whole download process again and this time save to the desk top and I'm getting a message that it won't let me delete the bfu file because it is being used by another programme The other problem is that the whole machine has slowed to a crawl

I know that this is down to my own incompetence but Iam really frustrated. I've just spent the last few hours trying to retrace my steps. I think I've downloaded the zip file but it must be in the wrong folder because I am geting the error message that it can't find the zip file anyway I now feel the befinning of a migraine so I am going to leave it for the moment Thanks for your patience but I warned you at the start I am a neanderthal when it comes to computers norman

A friend came round and helped me out

I think that had downloaded the programme correctly but not the zip file which we eventually downloaded from the coyote link. To cut a long story short he got it to work and the two logs are posted below for your perusal

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Not sure where these files will be located.
Start>Search>Files or Folders. THis brings up the Search function.
choose " Search for Files

Delete these Files if listed:
sysmon12.exe
keybdll.exe
InpriseMon.exe
Trayz.exe
cnftips.exe




1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

As regards behaviour of the computer I would say it is behaving as it was before we started this exercise in terms of speed/response certainly much better than it was earlier tonight when working with the fixware. Still seems to take a while to start up ie for all the icons on the botton mttol bar - particularly Norton to appear and conversely to close down

use Add/Remove Programs and remove ewido security suite.

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK




If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Yes, but you only want 1 anti-virus program.

Yes, you can remove those. Use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall them
