Hi LD,

I think I have a solution for all the information to be shown. I copied the information from notepad and pasted into a publisher page and put this on a server. You can see the whole results here:

http://www.gervais.c...scan1182006.htm

I hope that will be helpful. The second from the bottom line in the scan is the line that keeps ending. As I write this, my entire task bar is missing and pop ups based on my key word searchs keep showing up.

Please let me know so I can start the search and destroy.

Thank You

Hey, just found this. Another popup and I checked the properties. Tried to copy locations, but no matter what I do, won't let me. A different one just would not let me.

Properties of this popup are:

file://C:\Documents%20and%Settings\admind2\Local%Settings\Temp\{624C5400-0C44-

The two ads for spyware 'protection' show an http address of:

http://ac.qkilbdr.net

and a lot of switchs that trail off

I'm trying so I hope this may be helpful.

Thank you

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download AproposFix from here:
http://swandog46.gee.../aproposfix.exe

Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click aproposfix.exe and unzip it to the desktop. Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat. Follow the prompts.

When the tool is finished, please reboot back into normal mode, and post a new HijackThis log, along with the entire contents of the log.txt file in the aproposfix folder.

The forum is run by volunteers who donate their time and expertise.

Machine moving slower than I think it should, but no pop ups or redirects. Performance is where it should be (0 to 10% on CPU).

Here is my log. Let me know if there is anything else. For now it seems to be running pretty good.

Thank You

Just a couple left. They aren't bad just not needed. The 04 entry is windows
Messenger, not MSN Messenger.

I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Computer seems to be fine. Takes a bit to get running on a restart, but programs open as they should and system moves smoothly from process to process. Background CPU is where it should be.

If there is anything else, please let me know. It seems to be back to nearly its old self.

Thank You

You can uninstall ewido security suite now if you want.
use Add/Remove Programs to remove it.

Good Job

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?
