sorry for the delay..i had to pick up my son at preschool!..I thought i had saved this to my c drive but a warning came up telling me i had not. let me know what i need to do next. thanks!

Hi Liz, First I still have that it looks to me like you downloaded HJT again, and it is now running from a Zip file and you will receive this warning: http://russelltexas....nsafefolder.gif whenever you use it. I caution you that if HJT is used and for some reason you should delete the wrong file and need the backups to replace it, you will not have them.

This stuff can get into your System Restore files and if you need to use them, back on your computer. Follow these directions to keep this from happening:
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot <<< restart the computer

3. Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Hi Liz, I will say that using a computer online anymore is like using a loaded gun. Extreme care must be taken, and one of the nasties that places a RookKit infection that can be removed but the computer can never be consided safe after that, and this bugger travels the IM circuit. Look at this new information I just picked up.
http://infotech.indi...how/1175341.cms Both AIM and MySpace are dangerous if they are not used properly. Recently there was a case of a youngster thinking it was funny offering infected files at MySpace and a lot of kids infected their folks computer. Here are a few sites that may help:

Of course Google will provide much more if you need it. I can tell you this also. These folks are pure evil with no concern for anything but $$$. All it takes is to click on something simple and "free" to get an infection like Vundo. Extreme care must be taken at all times when visiting sites you are not sure are safe, and it is getting worse. Until our lawmakers get off their fat rears and enact severe penalties for causing this junk to be installed on private property, we will continue to have problems. Also, I don't think anyone knows yet what to do about the hackers in the old USSR where controls are basically non-existant.
I suggest you do not hide this from the children, but rather educate them, show them how to protect themselves. Here are a few more links I had on hand:
