Save the file to the desktop as fix.reg and make sure the "Save as Type" field says "All Files". Then please go to the desktop and double-click on fix.reg, and click Yes to merge it with the registry.

Reboot, then let me know if that helps with the secure site issues.

Sorry to be such a pain, but I registered the dll's and refreshed... then rebooted. I cannot go to any secure sites, yet. My system restore will not work. I tried that before I posted my plea for help!

I have Mozilla Firefox and I cannot go to secure sites on it, either! :scratch:

I tried system restore a few minutes ago and it said that my system cannot be restored ... I tried several checkpoints and installation points. :rant2:

Step 1: Install the update for Internet Explorer 6 for XP Service Pack 2

This update ensures that all add-ons are listed in the Manage Add-ons dialog box. If you don't install this update, some add-ons may be hidden.

Step 2: Restart your computer in Safe Mode

Because some malicious add-ons can sometimes elude detection in the normal Windows mode, you need to start your computer in Safe Mode. If possible, plug in the mouse or keyboard to the computer using the PS/2 connection (usually located in the back of the computer).

To start Windows in Safe Mode, follow these steps:

1. Restart your computer. As your computer restarts, repeatedly press the F8 key on your keyboard until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears. Note: If you work on a network with this computer, make sure you log on to safe mode with your network credentials. Step 3: Turn off Internet Explorer add-ons you don't recognize

Add-ons are software components that add features and functionality to Microsoft Internet Explorer. When you visit a website, an add-on may be downloaded without your knowledge, or you may be prompted to download an add-on. These add-ons may cause Internet Explorer to run slowly or become unresponsive.

You can usually spot malicious add-ons under the Name column in the Manage Add-ons dialog box. Malicious add-ons may have:

* Blank names
* Names that include random characters or have a sequence of numbers and letters (for example,fhriduvh.dll or f6rid8vh.exe as opposed to Windows Messenger)
* A publisher name you may or may not recognize

To turn off an add-on, follow these steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Manage Add-ons.
3. Click the name of the add-on.
4. Click Disable.

You may have to restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

If (Not verified) is displayed in the Publisher column in the Manage Add-ons dialog box, the add-on itself is not digitally signed (even though the program that installed it might be). A digital signature verifies that a file comes from the person or publisher it claims to be from, and that no one has tampered with it since it was digitally signed.

Step 4: Restart Windows in its normal mode

To start Windows normally:

Additional Troubleshooting

If Internet Explorer continues to crash, please try the following procedure. This will turn off all add-ons that may be causing problems with Internet Explorer.

To turn off all add-ons, follow these steps:

1. Close all open Internet Explorer windows.
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Internet Options.
4. Click the Advanced tab.

Glad to help! Your log looks clean. Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers.

On a regular basis, please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows, including the latest version of Internet Explorer. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.
In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:
- Ad-Aware SE. A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. You have this installed currently. Please keep it updated and run it on a regular basis.
- Spybot-Search & Destroy. A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features. You have this installed currently. Please keep it updated and run it on a regular basis.
- SpywareBlaster. A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.
- SpywareGuard. A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.
Keeping these programs up-to-date and running them regularly can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.
Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here.
Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.
Finally, consider maintaining a firewall. Some good free firewalls are ZoneAlarm, Sygate, or
Outpost
