Well, infections are the main reason.

Specific types will infect plugged in USB, and in the end not only will they go after the hard drive it connects to anything held in a USB, and, if it were for needed backups up?,  your up the creek.

And as well as photos/music ect.

 

If backups are a must many prefer to do an Image backup of the machines and update when needed and unplugged.


Sometimes the angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings...

hmm maybe thats why I been having issues latly with corropted files and data on my external's. Is it possible that bandwidth could overload to on the drives? I have some where around like 10 hard drives so quite alot. Ok well thanks for the advice, i guess I may unplug most of them and keep the only ones I need for stuff like streaming and plex media.
