I have known the printer doesn't work for just a few days. Today I thought I would explore that through settings - Devices. It is the only one I click on that disappears as soon as it appears. Just vanishes and I have to hit the cog again. Each time it disappears. Good grief, what happened?

I am patiently waiting to hear from anyone, please. If I am beyond help, a note saying so would be nice. Please don't leave me hanging.

Lets try the following: Run these commands in sequence from a Elevated Command Prompt. Run all of them up to 3 times until you get a complete clean run of all 3.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC /scannow

If there are no errors reported/fixed then I would suggest doing a Repair Install.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

It would be good to make a full image backup of your boot drive before doing this in case something goes wrong. Normally doesn't but it can happen, even if rarely.

I recommend using Macrium Reflect Free or Premium to an external USB Hard Drive.

I am sorry you have been ill and am glad you are feeling better now. Please know that I appreciate every bit of help. I don't know what an elevated command prompt is. I am sorry, but I need just a little more help with this, I am apprehensive.

No problem.

Press the Windows key or click on the Start button.

Type cmd. Look up a bit and you'll see cmd.exe. Right click on that and select Run as Administrator.

You may be prompted to authorize the action, click on Yes.

The Command Prompt window will open. It will say

Administrator: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe

in the title bar.

You didn't type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
You typed Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/StartComponentCleanup

You left out the space between commands. Copy and paste is the way to go for stuff like this. You can right click in the Command Prompt Window and select Paste or left click in it and press Ctrl_v.

Again you typed Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/StartComponentCleanup.

You need a space before each of the forward slashes ( / ). Look at the Command Prompt window you posted, it's very evident there are no spaces.

Thank you so much for your blessings. Still waiting. I had time tonight and was able to get my sound back thanks to you. I am so very thankful for your help. I like to try to do things myself. Retirement is blissful and full of opportunities to try new things. I was also able to straighten out my printer issues. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Of course, for me, it wasn't just that easy, but I did it and learned a few things a long the way. Bless you, on your journey. Thank you, again.
