default_excl.pngI downloaded Windows 10 but my computer is having troubles with installing itdefault_excl.png

Make sure that your computer can or is Qualified to update to Windows 10 first,  look  in my above post at the manufactures web site they will let you know,  you may be able to download the Windows file through Windows Updates but that does not mean your computer will work with it because of  your hardware,   an example is if you have Windows 7SP1  you should be able to upgrade but this is not the case,  it depends on your hardware and when your computer was released,  if you can't upgrade to Windows 8.1  from Windows  7SP1 then most likely you cannot upgrade to Windows 10.

Edit:

There are rumours now that older PC versions of computers may be able to do this with an error code resembling  C1900101-30018 on installing,  it is a hardware issue and not nailed down to a specific piece of hardware yet as it still may be drivers,  keyboard, mouse etc...

More to come on a follow up.

Follow Up

Edit 08/19/2015

This was a notebook I was given, it originally came off the shelf pre-installed with Vista Basic about 2009 and I downgraded it to Win XP PRO about 2 years ago and then it was sitting for about a year while I was waiting for my daughter to find the adapter for it she had lost, it never happened...lol so I ordered one from Amazon for $6.99 including delivery and tax (good price) and received it yesterday.

Last night I upgraded it to Win 7 Pro SP1 for the Windows 10 Upgrade Test this morning to see if it would work,  well I am typing this from it right now with Windows 10 Pro 32 bit installed and Activated,  the total time was about 1 1/2 hours,  I upgraded offline with only a Logitech wireless mouse and because of some errors with installs people were having and no antivirus or any programs running in the background,  it made it through the install and then to the first Desktop boot and that is when it had it's first problem,  it was good for about 5 minutes then I had a Black screen of death, at first I thought my back-light went out and gave it the flashlight test and could see Windows,  I re-boot and it started a repair then rebooted and was stuck on the first Windows boot screen,  just that little blue Window sitting there and no led action from my hard drive,  I rebooted again and then went into Diagnostics Mode then into a Safe Mode boot and I made it back to the Desktop so that was good,  from there I went online and let Windows do some updates then I hit the Restart Now,  after a couple of updates,  I have not had any problems within the last couple of hours,  so even though this particular notebook was not tested from HP and will probably never be,  it has been done,  my notebook specs are below.

Older PC Notebook: HP ProBook 4510s  Genuine Intel® CPU T1700  @ 1.83GHz (Celeron)  System Board 3072 KBC Version 24.0D  Memory DDR 2GB

Some little Hack Goodies for Windows 10 and more on the way

God Mode,  why search for all those settings when you can just find them with a mouse click from your Desktop.

Right click on your Desktop and select New then Folder,   then name the folder to this,  just copy and paste it for the new name and check it out,  make sure to copy it just as it is,  you can rename the GodMode icon after it is up

Don't know what the fuss is: upgrading to Windows 10 was a doddle and took very little time. Went to Windows Upgrade site, downloaded the 64-bit Media Creation tool, popped it into my 8.1 Dell and Windows 10 installed with no problem, (took about half an hour).

Can't say I'm impressed with MS Edge though: full of gimmicks and no Menu Bar.

On one of my computers it was a snap, but my older one had a few hiccup's and is working wonderfully now,  I did the non-intrusive install on the old one,  bypassing e-mail log on and a few other identity ones on the setup, but got caught when I was checking out X-Box,  I logged on to X-Box then the next time I started my computer it changed to the e-mail log on and caught me off guard,  so I changed that and deleted it and went through Local computer log on,  I know this version is suppose to be for the full Windows experience but I like to fly under the radar,  I am just luvin Windows 10 though,  whats your thougths on MS saying it will be the last Windows forever now,  I am kind of thinking maybe not,  but these days Linux is coming up with some dandy OS's that well in my opinion are great as far as the end users interface and not like the old days of Linux when you had to go into the shell and type code for a specific instruction or download,  now it is just point and click like Windows and has compatibile programs that can work with Windows applications,  Apache Open Office comes to mind

ok after the release of Windows 10 from RTM there are now 75 million users as today or yesterday using Windows 10 (this is with the MS knowing who is connected), so in theory there are going to be 75 million problems...just saying :wall:

Nah, we already fixed a couple hundred here and in other forums, so make that 74,999,300 (or so)  :)

I'm seeing a similar problem with a Lenovo IdeaPad Y530. I get a C1900101-20017 error.

I started a thread on this here: Anyone been able to upgrade a Lenovo Y530 laptop?

Hi Ztruker,

I am a little curious and was wondering if you may have tried to install Win 10 inside Oracle VB as a test run without a internet connection or even with,  maybe do a Win 7 install and upgrading or try the full clean install,  one of my puters is running 7 Enterprise and won't,  but using Oracle VB it did install.

Yes, I have Win 10 Pro X64 running under Oracle VB on my Lenovo K450, been doing that since October of 2014 when the first preview was released. I've done clean installs and upgrades many times since then with no problems.

I had a suggestion to remove the Broadcom wireless card from the Lenovo laptop and see if it would install then. I'm going to try that Tuesday when I get back to the shop.

Well if it works with that we need to narrow down the problem,  if Oracle can run Windows 10 inside Lenovo why can't Lenovo do it with non Oracle,  this is going to help big time,  hope you can find the bug   this is a great start in my opinion :pullhair:

I am on to this big time lets get it going,  that first code error is only for I guess the first code error,  that C1900101  is just a MS error message for this and they gave it that error,  then the 20017 or 30018 that follows has to mean something,  or they are just starting to catergorise them and let us know after they figure it out,  they had a specific reason for the first error code C1900101,  then meaning anything after that will follow and it might get up to fix an issue for that code,  it's those last ones that confuse me because they are related to drivers and hardware maybe,  I am diggin deep on this now as they are non specific and could be anything,  in a nutshell it is just drivers and hardware isues for now,  but I am not a coder and I think you have it kind of nailed down with your above link,  we got the brains here and there and I think we will figure it out before them maybe and maybe not...they keep us guessing and don't say nothing,  like a need to know when they are ready to let us know  :wall:

I will give Bill a call or his wife and ask them,  if you never hear from me again send out an sos to do a man hunt for me and ask where I am :whistling:

Not really. The devices in a VM are simulated.

For instance, my Lenovo K450 has a Realtek PCIe GBE Gigabit NIC.

Under OracleVB, the adapter is Intel® Pro/1000 MT Desktop Adapter.

Isn't VB just giving it a genric name or universal one to complete the connection or handshake and bare essentials,  so if you can load the same Win 10 in VB  on your physical machine, then it---> VB hacked into it,  but what did it do to bypass that,  I mean it loads in VM or VB why not physically to your machine,  I think it is the genric drivers or maybe hardware but VB needs those as well.

I kind of think we are hacking here but I love it , what can I do to help you,  I do not have  Lenovo only a dell and hp...lol

Just kidding about the hacking,  but I am in like Flynn Z what can I do to help

Messing (hacking?) with computers is my passion so I agree with you completely. I would be bored to tears if I never had any problems to work on or mysteries to solve.

Will find out tomorrow when I go into the shop. I'll remove the wireless NIC and see if 10 will upgrade. I'll post results tomorrow night.
