Not a lot of information about this BlueTooth head-set. A couple of sales sight list that it "works with PS3, but give no further description. Seems to be manufactured in China, but I can't tell if that is Mainland or Taiwan I see in these other sources what you may be describing when you indicate "broken English" in the instructions. One glaring (hilarious) faux is the claim of "Stereo" head-set. Umhhh? Single speaker? Stereo? Other places they have included that it is both BlueTooth AND wireless. Hmmm. Can't think of anything BlueTooth that is not wireless. This head-set sells new for between $19.53 and $25 US. Hope you got a good deal. Best Regards

Well I paid $30 something australian dollars for that chinese one so Id say I got ripped lol. My fault, should have done my homework first, but was eager to stop the whinging  Ok so that takes me back to the turtle beach one. From reading other forums it seems to be ok, but Im still apprehensive about spending that much money. Any thoughts anyone??

can't say yah or nah, never even seen one let alone used one, but the old adage springs to mind, "you get what you pay for", so if you can afford it and all the reviews say it's a good headset, and hubby really can't get used to the original one, then go for it.

did find this tho:-

Pros: Pretty good sound. Not as rich and rumbling as other headsets I've tried, but they sound decent. Don't expect a surround sound experience.

Cons: The mic, while adjustable, is not removable. If you don't want it in front of your face, you'll have a hard time getting it into a non-annoying position. If you flip it up, it falls right back down very easily.

Summary: I work at a GameStop and have access to plenty of headsets. The $80 price tag is a little steep for a headset like this. Once you put it on and play a few games, you'll be moderately pleased with the sound quality, but you'll really be able to tell that this item's price is marked up a great deal. For the same price, I would actually recommend the Tritton AX-180. It's sound is much better, the earphones are more comfortable, and you can remove the microphone if you don't want it in your face.

Another thing to consider. Pretty much ALL headsets are MESSY. You're going to have a tangled mess of wires EVERYWHERE if you want to use these things.

http://reviews.cnet....7-34057883.html

so looked for the Tritton AX-180 and found this review:-

In comparison to other analog stereo headsets that I’ve tried, like the Turtle Beach Earforce P-21, the AX 180’s have much superior sound quality both on the console and PC. As we mentioned in our AX 720 review, the AX 180’s lack the Chat Boost and Microphone Monitoring of the P-21. Those features of the P-21 may make it a slightly better choice for network game communication.

Legit Bottom Line: At the $69 price point, the Tritton AX 180 offers excellent analog stereo sound reproduction with a slick adjustable boom mic and independent game and chat features. This headset is truly universal, and will work with any PC, Mac, or console that you can throw at it.

Thankyou for all that info Terry1966, it seems from all the reading (apart from giving me a headache  ) that everything points to the ax180, the only problem being, they seem to be almost impossible to get in Australia and the shipping from the US would be quite hefty. Then theres the question of whether they are compatible with our version of the ps3 (if theres a difference between the us platform and the aussie one, such as with the ps2 eg: NTSC vs PAL). Cant seem to verify this info as of yet. One thing I was surprised with though was the fact that, at this price range, these sets are not wireless. That was a shock in this day and age of bluetooth technology, I just naturally assumed all ps3 accessories were wireless lol. How wrong I was! :smack: Ok maybe some more research is needed here. Am starting to wish Id never bought the bloomin thing in the 1st place :wall: lol Oh and to Doug, just for a laugh, here is an example of the broken english I was talking about. Turn on: Make sure it off, please press multifunctional button 3 secs, it will blue light flash, then release finger and get into turn on Turn off: Make sure it turned on, please press multifinctional button 3 secs, you hear 2 short long tones, indicator shows red light flashing and off, and you can certainly turn it off. If I didnt know what the instructions actually were for, it would sound quite suss

As Terry suggested and you concluded, a bit more research may result in a better solution.
Let's see if more ideas can be generated.

Your own research may start here:
http://www.google.co...lient=firefox-a
If any one item looks promising, do a google search for that item and manufacture, and especially read PS3 enthusiast feedback.

or add Australia to your search string

This quote taken from the very bottom of the link supplied by terry1966 in the post above

  • The Bluetooth audio signal for PS3 only carries voice chat. The game sounds and music are played through your TV or stereo receiver only.
  • If you want to listen to the gameplay with headphones then they will have to be compatible with your TV or stereo receiver.

Important to check that too.

@DSchwartz

I see that you are responding here to a topic that is 8 years old.... it's a good idea to take a note of the time stamps of the posts prior to posting your reply.

I also see that in some of your posts in other topics you are not being very helpful.....  for example,  your comment

"Wot?

MAC over Windows? O.o2

and also responding to a senior and well respected technician's comments with a single word ie

"pardon"

is not the sort of "assistance" that is welcomed here.

If you can make reasonable and sensible responses to the topics here then they are more likely to be appreciated by all our members.
