Ok Lets try this to see what happens.

Open My Computer.
Right click on drive: and select Properties (drive: is any drive)
Click on the Tools tab then the Check now button.
Check the "Automatically fix File System errors" box.

or click on Start then Run, type chkdsk /r and press Enter.

For C: you will get a window that says:

The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Type Y and press Enter.

Shutdown and reboot. Chkdsk will start. It can take an hour or more to run depending on the size of your hard drive. Be patient and let it complete undisturbed.

Important be sure to back up all of your saved data in case they will be a need to restore your files. If the above will not work last thing would be a repair option.

Please post back here with the results.

Okay so I ran chkdsk, where would I find the report for it, or is there not one. Okay I will be back, computer is getting hot, summer is never fair! Okay so after I posted this I was looking up something for my son and I about a game. I ran a google search and clicked on a link, (not the link I wanted to click on mind you, I was distracted) When the site came up everything froze and my computer made a very loud and short beep! I had to forcefully shut it down as it would not respond. Ever since then it has been a little odd, it has little 2 or 3 second freezes every 5 minutes or so. Just wondering if maybe I picked up something now. I ran quick scan and it showed nothing, so I am not too worried, but thought I would check. Thanks for all of your help.

CHKDSK "logs" can be found in: Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer - Applications - (event name is Winlogon) Should give the same information that appeared on the Blue Screen at the tail end of CHKDSK scanning Once you find the log, please post the info. Thanks Jimbo

Sorry, I have been busy at work, so I was gone. Back on topic. I looked for the log, and I could not find just one log with that name -_- Sorry..... If you would like me to post them all I could, so you could see which was relevant. They all had similar times on them, and they were all the same day too.

I am pretty sure you did as I asked, but please try this again.
I just did the same on my system and a winlogon file is in the list.

1.Click on Start then Run, type chkdsk /r and press Enter.
For C: you will get a window that says:

The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

2. Type Y and press Enter.

3. Shutdown and reboot. Chkdsk will start. It can take an hour or more to run depending on the size of your hard drive. Be patient and let it complete undisturbed.

The CHKDSK "logs" can be found in: --> Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer - Applications - (event name is Winlogon)

Should give the same information that appeared on the Blue Screen at the tail end of CHKDSK scanning
Double click the Winlogon file in the list and paste the results to word so you can paste them here.

Caution: Be sure to back up all of your saved data in case they will be a need to restore your files. If the above will not work last thing would be is a repair option.

Nman that does not look like the right info, if you can please try and run the chkdsk /r command again and note the time and date when it is done, then go back and look for the winlogon file, double click on it and open it up, then you will see a copy to clipboard tab, click on that and open up notepad or word and paste it to that.

Then copy and paste the info to a responce here to see the results. This is what it should look like.

No need to be sorry, I think we need to step back.

1. What Operating System you have ?
2. Do you have all the current updates to that Operating System.

The one I am telling you to do is for Windows XP. If you have another operating system, then this is why you do not see what I am showing you.

So If you are using Windows Vista this is what we have to do, sorry to have you do this again.

1. Click on Start and in the search box, type cmd.exe, then in the search results highlight and right click cmd.exe. Then select Run as Administrator.

2. Type chkdsk /f

/F: The /F switch is the most common of the chkdsk switches. It tells chkdsk to fix any errors it finds. Chkdsk can’t fix errors on a disk that has open files. If chkdsk asks you if you want to check the drive next time Windows Vista boots or dismount the drive choose to check the drive next time Windows Vista boots. (Warning and Caution here: Never choose to dismount the drive. That option should only be used by a professional.)

Important be sure to back up all of your saved data in case you will you will need to restore your files.

3. Once done then go to control panel
a. Highlight and double click Event Viewer and click continue.
b. Down at the bottom in Log Summary, Highlight applications and double click.
c. Scroll down till you see a source name – Wininit – with event ID 1001 then click on it.
d. Copy the general info using the copy functions in the box to your right by copy details
as text.
e. Then paste the info to word pad so you can paste the results here.

Please post back here with the results when done.

Hummm from the looks of it I see nothing wrong. Lets try this one more time just to be sure that the chkdsk command did or did not fix something. The more I am thinking that the file is messed up and I thought at one point you said you had trouble with IE 7 and started using Mozilla Fire Fox. This may be the problem.

First thing as I will say make sure and it's Important be sure to back up all of your saved data in case you will you will need to restore your files at some point.

Questions?

1. Try running your Virus Scan again to see if it will lock up or not. If it does then move to step 2.
2. Does your operating system have all of its current updates? If not then please update your Operating system to it's current service pack.
Please run Windows Updates - Start - All Programs - Click on Windows Updates.
Note: Windows Updates may offer "Optional Updates". You can make your own selection from them. Note: There is no benefit from installing the extra foreign language packs

Buy updating the operating system may or may not fix some of your problems.

If your system was not updated and you have finished updating it, try the scan again to see what happens. If you get the same results then we will try step 3.

Before prceeding to step 3, lets create a system restore point, here are the links for the instructions of doing this.

http://bertk.mvps.or.../createrpv.html

http://www.howtogeek...system-restore/

The problem is related to ieui.dll, then the problem could be a botched installation of IE (when installing IE 7, or later when installing IE 8.)

Possible solution: Uninstall IE 8, then Uninstall IE 7 if present, Reboot, Reboot again, Then Install IE 8.

3. Once you have made it past this point after uninstalling IE 8 and IE 7 and re-installing IE 8.
a. Try runing your Anti-Virus scan
b. If the problem happens again try running one of the on-line scanners in the earlier postings.

Report back the results, please.

Well step one, I ran the scan, and it froze. I already had all the current updates for my computer, and there were no new ones to be found so step two was already done. Though I did not see a step three.... or maybe it just isn't numbered on there. But either way I did everything you asked up until the uninstall and reinstall. If you need any more info please feel free to ask.
