Well if nothing else they introduced a model type 1U

http://www.google.co...1...mp;aq=f&oq=

Also keep in mind my post #11 as to the "mini" 24 pin connector required.

Not only do HP Slimline computers have a very small power supply, but they also have a small 24 pin atx connector on the motherboard that is rare.

As to all these factors I would again suggest seeing if we can find a card that will work with your present PSU.

I will continue searching tomorrow.

My first computer was an HP Vectra SSF so I am familiar with these builds in general. They were basically designed for office cubicles. Certainly not for high end gaming or any kind of CAD work. They were for running Office and Internet and E-mail etc. I ended up with my Vectra all out of the case where I did manage to upgrade it considerably but again the hardware was all on my literal desktop. No case. But all that being said we can still search and try to help. What exactly are you wanting this computer to do that it can't do presently? What is the essence of your upgrading desire?

I'm a big adobe fan. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Encore but they all bring your computer to it's knees. Just wanting something to run them with a little less lag.

How much RAM do you have? Right click My Computer then click Properties. The specs say you should have 3GB RAM.

Currently you have as to graphics:

•Integrated graphics using nVidia GeForce 6150SE 256MB

For its' size this is a pretty powerful computer with the exception of that 160 watt PSU.

This card would fit and looks good:

http://www.computerc...products_id=801

However it requires a minimum or 350 watt PSU.

I just post for example of my searches.

This again would fit but they do not spec the minimum PSU requirement:

http://www.barebonek...c...amp;eq=&Tp=

Anyway I will keep looking about.

Integrated graphics means that part of the ram is shared with the system ram, right??

Yes. Your graphics chip is using your system RAM up to 256MB. However that still leaves 2.5 GB which should be fine for running most all PC software.

Well and of course just my own opinion but I'd say your weak link here is your PSU.

If you can upgrade that then you can add a much more powerful graphics card.

Which would lead us back to seeking 1U PSU's with a "mini" 24 pin main plug.

http://www.google.co...24 pin 350 watt

We can also go to HP and try to confirm this "mini" plug idea or seek an adapter.

............

I am heading out for the evening but I'll be back. :D

That looks perfect. I just want to verify the "mini" 24 pin issue or non issue. That other manufacturer might have just been trying to sell his product. I will try to find some HP documentation on this point. Will get back to you.

This appears to be the same model although more expensive:

http://www.ramplus.c...enenen401u.html

I point it out as it has dimensions you can verify with your current PSU.

Width: 100mm(3.9")
Length: 245mm(9.65")
Height: 40.5mm(1.6")

Also it raises the point of the main power connection. This specs a 20 + 4 pin main power.

I see many retailers of this model and the posted specs vary. Some say simply 24 pin and some say 20 + 4 pin. Here is a Google on the model:

ENH-0840

Your HP does indeed have a "Small" 24 pin port on the motherboard.

As such you require an adapter such as this:

20 Pin to small 24 Pin ATX Converter Adapter for HP Slimline

http://www.atxpowers...x-converter.htm

This is where the 24 pin or 20 + 4 pin comes in as this adapter starts with a standard 20 pin rather than a standard 24 pin.

Of course if necessary another converter could be added to go from 24 pin to 20 pin then to the small 24 pin.

http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B000KMW48Y

All that being said I would venture these PSUs we are looking at are 20 + 4 to begin with so you would just need the adapter from 20 pin to small 24 pin.
