Hi Pulsebaby, If you find any files you cannot normally delete, I'd leave them there as they could be important. I wouldn't delete the folder containing the files either. The IP thing could just be a slow hookup time, I wouldn't worry about it unless your having consistent IP problems. Cheers, Lee

even though those files are for apps we've now removed from my system and they are empty and/or damaged? and the pitstop file is taking up space? also the 'temp' folder under windows, can any of those files be deleted, there are a lot of HDMP files (no idea what they are) that are taking up space?

Going though folders looking for files to delete that seem damaged or don't seem to be doing anything (especially when you don't know exactly what they are or do) is not a good move. Even when 'taking up space' (minuscule).

HDMP is a file extension, usually a Windows error report file or 'dump' file extension, possibly connected to Pitstop errors found.

The easiest way to clean-up your PC regularly, is to use the Windows Disk Cleanup Utility or if necessary, CCleaner as described in my post #205 here :
http://forums.whatth...h...5234&st=195

Both programs will do a safe and efficient PC clean-up job which will include Temp. files. What they don't remove you should leave well alone. Just don't use the Registry CCleaner feature :smack:

Cheers,
Lee

Sounds like you not the only one who dislikes the new MSN 2011 version

Follow these steps to revert to older version:

finally had time to do the restore point file sizing. after i rebooted i put the WinDirStat into the run box and it said not found, so i went back to the cmd and put in the original link and it showed the used space as 0 which was 18 before and the maximum space is now 2. is this correct?

btw that link to change msn back to a previous version, it was taking nearly an hour to download so i managed to find that version on microsoft and it took a few mins. maybe best to direct people to there if u get asked again. http://www.microsoft...97-e0a437a5b770

im still having buffering probs and some websites re very slow to open or change pages, not sure if this is a site server prob, my pc or isp.

Those problems could be due to any number of reasons. I often have the same sort of problems with my IE8 as it's generally a slow browser. More so on some sites than others. I mainly use Opera as a browser as it's very fast, has great security and has a 'fit to screen width' feature that I like very much. However, I still use IE8 for some sites and especially for Windows updates. Cheers, Lee
